Who loves Weezer? They are one of my favourite bands although I'm not liking the new stuff as much as the old stuff. The Blue Album and Pinkerton are my favourites although some of the Green album is good too. Make Believe hasn't struck me as too impressive although I hear Rivers Cuomo is very pleased with it.
Ive heard Weezer split a few days ago. http://www.nme.com/news/weezer/23579 Weezer split shock Band on hiatus, singer reveals Weezer could never make a record again, according to singer Rivers Cuomo. The band's last album was 2005's 'Make Believe'. "For the moment we are done. And I'm not certain we'll ever make a record again, unless it becomes really obvious to me that we need to do one," he said. Cuomo said that he had been writing lots of songs, but not for the band. He revealed: "All this year, I've been feeling pretty creative and excited, so I've been writing a lot. I don't know what'll happen with these songs - if anything - I just sort of write them and I can't stop. I certainly don't see them becoming Weezer songs, and I don't really see the point of a solo career. So we'll just have to wait and see." Titles of two of the new tracks are 'Heart Songs' and 'Our Time Will Come'. Although the end of the band is in sight, Cuomo does not want to release a 'Greatest Hits'. "I'm not convinced that we have a greatest hits album that is worth putting out at this point. I'd like to include two more amazing songs on there. And anything else would just seem lazy to me. We'll see, though. I don't really feel comfortable with it now," he told MTV
well split is probably a little much but it doesn't look good for them, which is probably a good thing because as much as i love this band til the end, the last two albums have been forced and not up to par
Yeah I know.... seems a happy Rivers is not a musically brilliant Rivers. And as for the split... I don't think so... Rivers is too creative hes just really happy atm because hes finished university and is a newlywed, I'm sure Weezer will be back.
^^He also began vipassana meditation a couple years ago and this combined with getting married and getting his english degree..well I can't see him releasing anything else. I think he's going to turn to writing...maybe not even that.
yeah, i mean i'm not sure how we'll hear from Rivers in the coming year, but i don't think he will just stop producing some sort of creative material, be it music or writing or something completely different
they used to be my favorite band. i dont relly like em all that much anymore. but pinkerton is still enjoyable.
they have some rad old stuff, their new stuff....lacking, too main stream, but i think they were aiming for that
I love Weezer... I've seen them live 4 times, granted they don't go into extended jams that blow your mind, they still get me movin and groovin... Love them so much, I even got to give Karl a high five, and my best friend got a setlist.... Anyways, the old stuff, definetly has a lot of heart... the newer stuff, well they have to evolve, but they still have some decent cuts... I silently await their return.
i like weezer but lately they haven't been too great. their new music is getting pretty boring and repetitive.
When i heard the blue album and the b-sides (ie mykel and carli), i honestly thought (and hoped) that would be the future of popular music... 'twas a fun fantasy for a teen. p.s. this is what part of the alphabet would look like if "q" and "r" were eliminated. (sorry- mitch hedberg joke) o.k.- p.s. i had a ripped (purposely in half) setlist from their blue album tour. i wish i weren't such an irresponsible teen.
i think weezer was the first band i truly loved. i think i got hooked after hearing "hash pipe" when they came out with the green album. however, it was the blue album that i extremly loved, and pinkerton was incredible as well. the green album is still alright, but hardly listen to it anymore. i think it definitly went way down hill after weezer started to not name their albums after colors
hahaha rhasta you may well be right. thats the sort of comment I think would make Rivers smile. Its interesting how much Pinkerton was loathed when it first came out and now its pretty much acknwledged as their best work.. weird how these things turn out. My boyfriend brought me 'Maladroit' yesterday and I listened to it this morning... a lot heavier than their other stuff.
