I finally began watching this movie last night- I got about 1/2 an hour into it and decided I'd have more fun cleaning out my garage. Why in the HELL have I heard good things about this movie? It was awful. Not just awful- PAINFUL. Has anyone else seen it? Is there something vital I'm missing? Besides the premise being kind of.. lame in general, i guess.. i was picking up some pretty insulting messages as a woman. I mean, the whole movie was centered around the insinuation that women are so fucking dumb that they'd eat up the most lame ass transparent pick up lines (however carefully fleshed out they may have been) and literally fall into bed with these jackasses. These men are like, pushing 40 and wedding hopping for ass. They put all this energy into concocting pseudo personal histories, running background checks, memorizing rules. Imagine if they put that much thought and effort into a real, live, grown up relationship? Anyway. I don't usually get this irritated by movies, just wondering what anyone else's view was?
it was okay for awhile, but the ending was so cheesy and cliche. much like many of the movies in hollywood someone said this movie is much better than 40 year old virgin, and I dont think so at all. there were many more laughs in 40 year old virgin.
I loved 40 year old virgin, that was a hilarious movie. The dialogue was really clever and the timing and everything was great. See, you can have boobie comedies that are actually funny. I still give wedding crashers negative two stars.
i like the first half of Wedding Crashers....but who ever said it has it right, the end was so cliche, and so dissapointing. just lame. too hollywood. hate that shit.
and it was advertised as such. that was the point of the movie and it was hillarious. it was a comedy and not meant to be degrade women, i'm sure.
it's a good movie. If you watched the rest, the message changes. It was lame, but in a hilarious way. I guess I don't know how insulting it was, I'm a guy. But I didnt think it really was. If I turn my brain off, i can appreciate crap. I enjoyed it.
I couldnt believe how average (and even a tad below average) this movie was. I didnt see it in the show and was hyped to rent it after seeing the money it made at the box office. Not very funny. For me, The 40 year Old Virgin is the superior movie. I put WC in the same pile with Anchorman...not funny
As much as I hated the movie, you fail to realize it's "point". First off, the "rules" aren't real rules. They just make something up that aplies to the situation, then put a number on it. Second, although it is alluded that they have been crashing wedding for a long time (because they like the atmosphere and such), they both end up having real relationships (even though they come out of horrifically stupid situations). Also, at the weddings, they try to liven the party up: giving toasts, playing with the kids, dacing with the mother of the bride etc. I re-iterate, this movie was horrid...
I agree with you completely.. Not only is that movie just really fucking lame, its extremely insulting to women. I was picking up on that too, not all women are that stupid. So yeah, that movie sucked like all around, not just because I was insulted but the plot was just.. stupid.
As if you couldn't see a mysoginistic comedy coming from a mile away. Honestly, if you wanted a serious Art movie and went to see this, it says more about your intelligence than the movies.
They target women who are so fucking dumb to believe their lies, it doesn't mean all women are. I really don't think it was meant to demean women, it was just a dumb blockbuster comedy that I thought was actually really funny.
