If you don't like it in the United States you are free to leave and find a country that you will like. Our government is not perfect, there are none, but it is the best there is in the world and the only one that allows its citizens to spew their hatred against it. The next time you feel really angry toward the US go take a walk in the military section of the cemetery and look at the tombstones, each tombstone represents an American willing to defend your right of free speech. I wasn't calling anyone stupid. I was just making a statement.

 

Only its not the best in the world (healthcare, education and diplomacy are just a few things that plenty of other people are far better at). It is by no means the only one that allows people to "spew their hatred against it". And don't you think your sentiment about the tombstones should be a reason to feel anger towards the US?... Each one (except for WWII) represents an unnecessary death in the ongoing blunder that is US foreign policy and what most will call an imperialist agenda.
Persons blind patriotism like yours is quite possibly the biggest reason why the US is as it is. More interested in crying out "land of the free" and "greatest country in the world" than actually fixing the problems and turning those lies into the truth...

Defending your borders is necessary. Yes the Mexicans will gladly work the hot fields that no one else wants to but then they also take from the system(public schools are the only example I can remember right now). It's not as if those soldiers would be any use with the oil spill anyway...

 

@ op, yeah its stupid, but its capitalism at its finest. i saw on some news that "they dont quite have the technology to replace the deep sea oil pipes". which probably means, the business owners dont give a fuck and won't put in money towards the mistake they made.

If there was any truth in this statement there would not be such existential hardship, even outside of the 'lower class'. People working two or more jobs and being refused medical care because they cannot pay for it are the first examples that spring to mind.

youmust have tried to "fix" a problem yourself. - because you are obvious superior to a person who has "blind patriotism".

no one is ever refused medical care. long term medical coverage is a different story. in any case a person can simply get theirself put in prison and have free medicare.

 

there comes a time in a every person's life when caring about other people becomes a liability. other people can support you in your endeavor in some cases, but most of the time people just drag you down.

of course there are extreme cases but you are generalizing wayyy to many rich people into one catagory.

Secondly, I realise now that I was not clear in my statement, or rather, I simply didn't say what I meant to.
When I say "blind patriotism", I do not refer to persons showing pride in their country despite its faults. That is just patriotism.
I mean to speak to persons who feel that they and/or their country is empirically superior to another, citing garbage that they have pulled out of god knows where. They are patriotic to a point of excruciating arrogance for no good reason. I apologize for not explaining myself properly.

Again I was not specific enough and allowed you an opening. Although persons may not be denied EMERGENCY medical services(which they may end up being bankrupted by when they get the bill). As you admitted, long term coverage is the problem, a big problem considering things like the US's obesity rate.

That's not funny. People are dying and it could have been prevented.
Saying things like "greatest country in the world" under these conditions is exactly what is getting under my skin.

 

the real problem in the US is acknowledge where and what the government has power over. the country was founded with limited government in mind, which set the stage for the majority of this countries problems. Our government can't just simply impose what ever it wants on the people, so they [the government] have to wait until the people NEED something before they impose/impliment any given policy.

for example the healthcare problem; with the new health care law the government is doing alot of imposing, but it is needed and is being addressed.

i suppose it really depends at what you are looking for to be the greatest country in the world. overall, i think we are the greatest.
