I was at my mothers house yesterday and she handed me a magazine called newscientist, with this article in it:

    http://www.newscientist.com/channel/health/mg18524921.300

I have been researching this a lot already, but now it appears it is a growing concern in europe. what do yall think about this? I found this too

    http://www.ukcia.org/research/can-psychosis.htm

    http://www.priory.com/psych/cannabis.htm

I don't think pot can actually make a person more likely to develop schizophrenia.. exacerbate pre-existing mental problems, yes. but so can alcohol and many other things. i am also not convinced a paranoid thought while high or while a person is an active smoker can be labeled a psychotic symptom. pot charges account for most of the drug charges, and the total drug charges that end in conviction and sentencing is far greater than all the other crimes. jamaica has really tough pot laws as well, from what i understand. and they wonder why the fuck pot smokers are paranoid. what a skewed study in my opinion. "psychotic symptoms" such as paranoia may accompany diseases such as schizophrenia, but not necessarily vice versa. i am sure that if there were a causual link between the two, we would have epidemics of these mental illnesses, which there is not. i wouldn't imagine that humans with schizophrenia could still exist as a minority for more than five thousand years of human cannabis use.

I dont beleive marijuana can cause phsycotic symptoms, just by the fact that I know stoners that are between the ages of 30-50 who smoked weed since they where 13 or 14 and they do not have any symptoms. Although I think marijuana smokers who have mental illness in thier family may get it.
