Three ways ,I think. First way is to believe most everything you are told/taught and go thru life attempting to acquire, acquiring and believing that acqusition is the measure of worth. Pretty standard thinking and is obviously effective. The belief is widespread and is the driving force in a society with plenty. The second way is to realize that all is not what it seems and to begin to understand that manufactured WANTS have taken precidence over Needs. Not easy for most, but do-able. Once that realization begins, one can try to strike a balance between participation, observation and a life lived more simply and stress free.

It's difficult, because what is -is what we were born into, judged by and expected to adhere to.

The above is simplistic,of course and relates to where I live -the US. There are many ramifications and possible propositions left unsaid. For example--who's responsible for the way we now live? Another story.

The third way is get a bottle of Jack Daniels, a bag of weed and and party your ass off! You're welcome.

Being from Britain, the sort of Protestant Work Ethic we used to have thrown at us was pretty bizarre and fucked up. I'm sure there are several Catholic equivalents, altho' the Vatican has other ways of trying to domineer people. Strangely, just like Berlesconi, some of the most hardworking Catholics I've met seemed to have this pathological hatred of ever supporting the tax base of any country. As if its their "Catholic Work Ethic". Hmm.

I've always been like that. If you always expect the worst out of life, it lessens the disappointment when things go badly, as they inevitably do so regularly. lol

  8. Do the best you can, live within your means financially, be happpy with your lot, look at the true beauty of your environment whether it be rural or urban, deal with everything that comes your way asap (no worrying over shit for days) and most importantly - treat man and beast with equal dignity! This is my serious, not having a go at anything and everything, head. Well, my journal entries are purely for entertainment :D

A few things I've learned from the past couple of decades about how to live a happy life.
Stay out of debt. Especially to any govt. entity
Friends are more important then any things.
Make money for work you enjoy.
Realize change is inevitable so always try to have a back up plan.
Dont wait till November to start your firewood winter stock.
Plant 10 seeds because at least 5 plants wont make it till harvest.
