I, as well as others have the problem of yawning when others yawn. >Begins to yawn as she types the word.< I will yawn If I see/hear the word, or witness others yawning. Why is this such a contagious bodily function?

This is kind of off subject, but I was thinking about it today. Whenever I hear a noise that resembles forks and knives scratching a plate, I being to talk funny. The sound disturbs me so much that I can't speak right and talk with a lisp. >You would have to hear me just to see what it's like<

For example, I'm in band and when I hear a horrible clarinet squeak while i'm talking to someone, my speech immediately changes. I sound like I have a mental disorder when I do this. Today I did it when I was talking to a friend in speech and the microphones got to close the the speakers and made that horrible screaming/ringing noise.

I have had this problem as long as I have known. I have, however, not known anyone else who has the same problem. Why would this horrible noise make me talk funny without me having any control over it? Perhaps because I cringe? I don't know...

    the mind is very wierd

you should be fine. your mind has a connection that others dont, it only impairs your speech. if youve always had it and it doesnt affect anything else, then its merely that your an oddball and have a special gift.

on yawning.. dogs to it too. many bodily functions can be stimulated by whitnessing other people do them. its an animal survival trait, to mimic various things. just like seeing lots of people smile can make you smile, or laugh, and seeing a guy go take a leak on a tree can make you need to pee, or when a child misbehaves and every other child around them seems to have a compulsion to copy them. or when someone cries, it can make others feel a compulsion to be sad, or even to not be that sad but just cry or sob. all this is particularly in children and least in old people. its a direct link to learning.
