Dr. Bronners! Dr. Bronners is an all natural soap, and therefore might not keep your long hair straight or as soft as you'd like it. Natural castile soaps don't have that stuff in them. If you're looking to go au-naturale, I would definitely recommend Bronners!
I like Aveda shampoo and Mane and Tail conditioner. I condition my hair everyday, and wash it every 2 days...wish I could go longer without washing it, I have so much hair, it's hard to go anymore then a few days.
Shampoo bar and apple cider vinegar rinse infused with lavender oil. Took a week or two to adjust fully, but now my hair loves it!
My hair gets greasy so right now, I wash it everyday. When it gets longer, I usually wash every other day or every third day.
I couldn't get over the smell of the cider vinegar and it was annoying walking around with the smell in my hair when I tried apple cider vinegar. I would like to foster my hair gaining a bit more strength, shine, and possibly more thickness. I think most of the ingredients of even natural shampoo actually strip your hair of too many of its natural oils. Most of us want to avoid the appearance of greasy hair, however, so we see this as a positive. But our hair falls out more and we have split ends and such because of it, even if you use a good conditioner. Dr. Bronners is great for dreads, but not for straight hair. It's too drying (which you want for dreads so the hair tangles). I feel like getting off of detergent products in general and just using some natural astringent to cleanse the excess oil and dirt from my hair would be great. It would make my hair look nicer, healthier, etc. But I tried apple cider vinegar and I couldn't get the smell of it out by rinsing it, and my hair basically stank of vinegar all day. I found baking soda to actually be too drying. Any other advice?
Ive been using pert cause iv'e been lazy and thats all i have. I'm starting to think about all the chems in it though and i try to go organic with everything else so i might as well try to get some shampoo thats natural.
i have 12 different shampoos,, for a guy with little hair.. lol. I like this vo5 berry stuff, tressme, pantine.. I got a bunch..
Herbal Essence Citrus Lift or whatever it was called was amazing.. because it made my hair smell like oranges... but they stopped making it i think
i buy herbal shampoos. it's free from all those illusion filled ingredients that make your hair 'look and feel shiny' but don't actually take care of your hairs health. and i wash every 2 - 3 days. usually 3, but if it's really oily already on the second day i will wash it then.
apple cider vinegar in water and baking soda in water. lol thats all i use. i wash it like...once or twice a week.
I use a soap based bar shampoo (see my personal forum link in my sig, I have a reviews section there) with white vinegar and a few drops of essential oil. The ratio, and I mix heavy, is 1:4 vinegar to water and maybe 4-5 drops in a 16 oz bottle. My hair is "classic" length: meaning at the bottom of my bum.
I have been gradually moving into shampooing every other day. It doesn't get greasy anymore now that my hair is used to it I guess and it seems a bit more volumous and fun to work with. I usually use Aussie shampoo and conditioner but switch em around frequently often reverting back to natural shampoos.
I'm going to start shampooing every other day soon. Everyday is just unnecessary. I'm just waiting for a time to start where it's okay if my hair gets greasy temporarily.
