I wondering if anyone on here washes with ONLY water? I don't mean as in just getting it wet, but rather no shampoo at all.

Was your hair oily at first? Because it seems if I go too long without washing at all, mine starts to feel nasty. Maybe once it adjusts it won't be like that?

I don't use any shampoo, and my hair just gets coarse. I just have to shower at least once a day. But I have pretty short hair.

supposedly your hair adapts to making oils as you take them out, so if its not used to oils being taken out, it will continue to produce them until it readapts.

but other than that, whenever i touch my hair with my hands alot it gets oily much faster. probably because the oils on my hands.

I'm thinking I will try to just gradually ease off the shampoo, until I get to the point where I only need to wash it maybe a couple times a year.

But washing dreads is just too fun bro. I love when my lil rastas (as they say in spanish) are soaked. Makes me feel like I really have a palm tree as a head then.

Yes it feels good on the scalp, but mine take the majority of a day to dry after washing; about 8-9 hours. And that length will only continue to grow as the dreads do. So you can see why I don't like to wash too often.

And I go swimming quite often too, whether it is fresh or salt water.

Has anyone considered using a "shamwow" to dry their hair?
    Just wondering.

If its oily, you can do rinses with apple cider vinegar or just plain white vinegar diluted in some water. It helps with the balance of your natural oils if you're trying to wean off shampooing. I haven't used shampoo or conditioner in 7 years. I got off that nasty stuff by washing my scalp with a bicarbonate of soda and water paste and then rinsing with vinegar. Now I only need to wash my hair once a week with water and a vinegar rinse. Occasionally I use the bicarb paste again to get rid of dead skin cells.

    What is a shamwow?

Yeah, usually I will wash with just baking soda as well, and ACV every once in a while. That stuff makes your hair feel so much cleaner than shampoo ever could.

The shamwow is supposed to be this super absorbent towel.

Made in "Germany". There are a ton of infomercials for it.
    Probably a scam though..
