i guess its all about taste, there are very few guitarist who's solos blow my mind like those of jimi do, eddie hazel comes close and that guy from ozric tentacles is awesome too

 

My college housemate is much more technical than Hendrix, shit... he's probably a better guitar player too.

Ever heard Yngwie Malmsteen try and play 'Purple Haze'? And that's simple. Buckethead try and play 'Foxy lady' or 'Stone Free'? Hammett play 'Little Wing' (he did it okay.) Dimebag Darryl play 'Little Wing'? The only guy who could ever play Hendrix well was Stevie Ray Vaughan.

And anyway, Hendrix did 500 songs in 3-4 years. How many could you do? Are you that creative? How many styles can you play? How far ahead of the time are you still going to sound in forty years time?

I shalt give you the benefit of the doubt and say that yes, sure they didn't play Hendrix tunes as well as Hendrix did... but that's only logical.

Their own tunes are much better than anything that Hendrix ever did though.
