    Hey Im new,
Am a wanna be hippy! Grow me own veg, all that lot...
am 4 months pregnant and am thinkin about how i want to bring my baby up!
have very conservative parents and was wondering about being more liberal with my baby...what do you all think? do kids with partying parents take more responsibility for themselves? or do they go off the rails or turn out like saffy from ab fab?!
    all thoughts would be appreciated!
    thanks

    Saff rules! :)

I think it's you who should decide how to raise the baby. If you're more liberal than your parents, what point would it have raising him more conservative again, when you might not at all stand behind conservative views? You should raise raise him or her like you would have wanted to be raised yourself, I'd say.

I wish you a million times good luck with pregnancy, birth and parenting! :)

If going liberal means the child would be closer to family then maybe that's the way to go. But I don't know your family.

You should decide how to bring up your child. To me a child should have a happy fullfilling life. But thats just my opinion.

Good luck with everything. And im sure it will come to you when you first see your child.

why did you call yourself a wanna be hippy? does it have any relevance to the thread?

anyways, raise your child the way you want. dont let peer pressure (even if it is your parents) change the way your child is raised.

Some kids grow up way different than their parents.

Raise your child how you see fit. Do discipline (I get so tired of screaming mis-behaved children in grocery stores and such) but I think kids are more mature when their parents are laid back and let them discover for themselves.
As far as growing your own veggies, I have done it and it is SO worth it. They do taste better and I can't tell you how much I have saved on groceries. It is so convenient to just go to the backyard to pick out my dinner! :)

listen... dont go calling yourself a wanna be anything, just be yourself. you cant decide to be a hippy, it just happens. raise your child how you wish. I think a more laid back fun loving mother would be soooo much better than a conservative one. My friends parents are so strict, they dont let her do anbything or go anywere unless a parent drives, (they are getting better on that) they make her clean the bathroom and her room like spik and span not one little tiny dust mite can be on the floor or she has to do it all over again. She has to mow the lawn all the time, she is always doing somerhting for them when trhey can do it. they say they dont have enough money to buy her a pair of pants when she doesnt have any but then they go and buy a 5,000 jacuzzi...
please please please dont be like this!! this is just not called for. let your chile make desicsions, teach them to love everything, no violence, teach them how to care for our world, nature is a beautiful thing and your kid is the future, as well as i am but we can make a difference if he/she learns to love it.
    Peace! GOOD LUCK!
