No shopping hand baskets at one of their stores. I asked a couple employees why there were no hand baskets and neither could answer me.

I've never heard of a store with no shopping baskets. Really strange.

a lot of the stores here stopped offering the carry ones here too and when i ask they always blame theft..saying the customers walk away with them

I have a few dozen of the plastic ones I bought at the dump one day for like a dollar...theyre handy for keeping parts organized on my shelves

They could put those magnetic strips on them to set off the alarm when people walk off with them. It could even be embedded within the basket.

I tried bringing in my own netted bag and my own basket once and they got upset about that, insinuating that I was trying to steal stuff.

...and this is actually surprising or noteworthy enough to merit a thread?

Think I'll weave my hair into the shape of a basket and put all my merchandise in it.

Wonder what Dieter Jeeter the Walmart Greeter will say about that.

Why don't they fire the useless greeter. What a waste of money. They could buy a thousand baskets a month with what they're paying someone like that.

It's probably a ploy to get us to buy more if we are pushing a great big cart.

Maybe it's a marketing ploy to make you buy more. The grocer who invented the shopping cart did it so people would buy more than they could carry in a hand basket. It was only a matter of time, I guess.

It is a marketing ploy targeted at shopaholic women who just can’t stop shopping until the cart is full
