Walking Barefoot in the Snow

  1. Yeah, yeah, yeah....we've all heard it before...
    Whack jobs.
    We're just beggin' for it.
    WTF!
    OMG!!!
    But, honestly now.....
It really IS fun for sensible (i.e., short) stretches.
Especially in a light snow...like walking on puffy crystals.
Even on a thin layer of snow, it can feel quite nice.
Just another kind of barefoot sensation, like hot pavement or new asphalt or wet grass or rich mud.
    Snow.
    What a concept!
    :)

I agree. Ride in the car, but dash to the buildings barefoot. Take some shoes in the back seat just in case the car won't crank.....LOL!!!

Wacky it may be in the eyes of mainstream, but it feels great!

Been Walking Barefoot In Frost And Snow For Over 7 Years...:).

I Tend To Favour Frost Over Snow, Frost Has Big Crunchy Crystals, Whilst

Snow Has Very Fine Crystals, And The Fine Ones Tend To Sting A Little.

The Longest I Have Walked In Snow Is About 3 Hours, And The Only

Reason I Stopped Is Because I Had To Get To An Appointment In Town.

As For How Long I Have Walked Through Frost?? Who Knows, It Happens

    Every Day Of Every Winter...:).

    Cheers Glen.

Better be quick... I took that photo this morning, and over the day, temperatures rose to 40F (5°C) and rain has washed away the few inches we had. On the upside of this: barefooting is now again possible for a longer while than a few minutes.

    Wiggling bare toes,

Came across Barefoot Sierra's blog the other day. http://sierrathebarefootgirl.blogspot.com/ I saw there was a topic created here a couple years ago where people thought she may not be for real, back when her blog was on that pay site city-feet.com But she has since moved her blog off of there, and it most definitely appears to be real, going BF down to about -20° C.

*edit* actually she has an even newer blog than the blogspot one: http://sierrathebarefootgirl.com/ Right now she's fighting pregnancy complications.

Much more fun without emergency flip-flops nearby! This winter I picked my gf up from work barefoot and she decided she wanted to stop at the supermarket on the way home which got some interesting looks as I struggled on my crutches and bare foot through the snow from the car to the mall entrance.

Crutched with my foot bare into my local post office this morning through a light dusting of snow. It was definitely exhilerating and turned a few heads in the process!

We had first snowfall in Montreal last Sunday, and I just couldn't resist an excursion in the snow! I took along my camera and here is what I got, on those deserted Sunday evening streets. The commentary is in French but you needn't worry, what I say is mostly "it's actually not that difficult" or musing about "our ancestors have walked barefeet for thousands of years"... so resistance to cold must be somewhere in our genes. I personally found it surprisingly easy to adapt to such conditions.
