My 12 yr old, 7th grade sister, showed me her vocabulary words for the week... here's two. zaftig : fully bossomed or bodily figured shillyshally : to vaccilate, to hesitate, the inability to make up one's mind now tell me... when do you ppl use these words in everyday life? anybody have any more?
I'm just amazed shillyshally is a word deemed worthy enough to be in a dictionary somewhere. Since when did we purposely start teaching 7th graders slang words? Particularly slang words from the 20's?
there are alot of weird words in my vocab book..especially in the one from last year....words that you will never in your entire life use
lol exactly! now she's dictating more to me... bumfuzzle : to confuse haha she uses this one a lot though....
ahahaha bum fuzzle my fav word no one knows about is skimington, its to be beaten to death with a wooden spoon.
You'd be surprise how many you remember years later. I used the word 'segue' in a paper I wrote for my class the other day. The professor circled it and put a question mark next to it, as if I made the word up. I thought that was so funny.
