I have a virus on my computer that I can't get rid of. Ad-Aware sees it but doesn't remove it, and AVG doesn't see or get rid of it. Windows defender doesn't see or remove it either. The virus causes my computer to restart when I run some programs, and once when I opened Mozilla Firefox a pop-up appeared for a few seconds. When it restarts it lags extremely bad or freezes and then the screen changes from a Windows XP version to something like a Windows 95 (the blue turns grey), and then it restarts. Does anyone have any ideas or know any programs I could use to get rid of this?
a good cleaning tool is mcafee stinger you could also try AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic but first you will have to uninstall AVG.... with UBCD4Win (ultimate booth cd for windows) you can do a virus scan at booth time but first you will have to build it .
Pop in your OS cd and reformat. Delete the old partition and choose NFS non-quick. You will be done in an hour. I re-image yearly anyway.
