Their first album is fantastic! I've only heard bits and pieces of the stuff they did after that, though I've always wanted Hallowed Ground...

Just got there remastered first album , when I was 17 I was realy into them and I used to scour through NME to try and find any articles on them (not many as there first album was over ten years old even then).
My girlfriend is Twenty and I played them to her for the first time the other day and she liked them.
There first album is the best but I have hallowed ground , american music and one I think that called '3' and they are all great.

I would love to see them live, looking at their website they still play loads.

I always see that they're playing, and mean to go, but never do. They're alright, but I dunno, sometimes I just get sick of them and can't listen to them for while.

my friend burned me a a weird mix of all these rare VF songs....and this was before i knew who they were. i was looking at the name and thingking "violent femmes"? what is this? some sort of angry chick punk rock? i thought this because the kid who handed it to me had blue hair and a leather jacket....and told me how much they inspired him. so i thought it was punk. years later i put it on. and it is some of the most bizzare stuff. a few of the normal ones like "blister"....but there were some great oddities that made that cd a gem until it died.....
