Some special forces troops being withdrawn from Iraq are now stationed in Jordan near the border of Syria. They are there to prepare for war with Syria.

Syria has been building up troops and tanks on the border with Jordan because Jordan has allowed opposition groups to smuggle arms into Syria to fight against the Assad regime. Syria has threatened to attack Jordan if it continues, which it no doubt has.

So the US is now directly facing off against Syria, as never before. With "boots on the ground", preparing the way for more US military involvement, it's only a matter of time before the fuse is lit and war breaks out.

Unfortunately Syria is a client state of Iran and Russia. The Russians have transferred state-of-the-art missiles to Syria that can penetrate our latest aircraft carriers. So in addition to the Russian warships stationed in Syrian waters, there is a real threat to the US battle group gathering there.

So with the US hamstrung in the Med, it has turned to its ally, Jordan to defend it against an attack from Syria, and as a possible launch pad for US forces to go attack Syria directly, in addition to all the other US bases surrounding Syria in Turkey, Iraq (soon to be vacated!) and Israel.

    Are YOU ready for WWIII?

i have not been able to stop any of the 'police actions' during my life time, so i don't suppose it matters whether i am ready or not, Skip.

i cannot see a reason why, with these nations who constantly cause trouble, we do not simply nuke them until they are a parking lot, instead of sending our young people in to be maimed. seems clear to me-nuking is more efficient.
despite all the missiles that were destroyed during my time 'in', i believe that there are still plenty available to microwave russia, iran and syria.

    nuke them til they glow!

or stop being the world's policeman, and let the bastards kill each other.

Nuclear weapons are not the answer.. Do you know what the modern nuclear weapon does?. This isnt 1945. These weapons will spew radiation into the air and ground. Making 90% the fossil fuels in the surrounding area unusable for decades to come..
Heavy radioactive fallout will spread across China some of Europe within a matter of days..

As for Iran and the stupid joos that want to launch an air strike against purposed Iranian nuclear facilities. This will be like opening up 20 Fukushima reactors.. DO IT!! DO IT NOW!! I dare you... [IMG]

This post is a tad hyperbolic, . . . tho it will be interesting to see how this situation develops over the next few days.

    Every war is a crime.
The only thing that could justify a military action would be to stop a country from being very repressive against its own population.
(which country has most people in prison worldwide?)
    ;)

Or to stop a country that attacks repeatedly other countries
(which country starts most wars these times?)
    ;)

yes, yes...sarcasm doesn't come across well on the net. i ceased to put 'sarcasm alert' on posts sometime back. many people don't understand what that means, anyway....english is not taught in schools nowadays.

and, in any event, so radiation spews across the globe....fukushima the whole place. over populate it; waste the resources. breed like rats, uncontrolled in quality and space and behaviour. the difference in 'nuked/not nuked' is in the velocity of change. of course, if the change is slow, we get to enjoy the show while it melts down, i suppose. entertaining, isn't it?

if nukes are not the answer...what, then, IS the answer? fuck it. that's the answer. c'mon talking heads...show us the bodies! we love horror films...

If we want to diminish the human tragedy, can't we just provide bread to Syrian refugees who manage to make it to a Jordanian refugee camp?

Assad is his own worst enemy. Half the Arab world hates him and many of his own people are working to get rid of him.

I am inclined to think that the US is better loved when it lets other countries alone, no matter how sorely tempted we are to fix things.
But a few loaves of bread probably wouldn't hurt.

only in america. second amendment should have been abolished after the civil war.. yes our soldiers fight on foreign soil, yet our homeland NEEDS to be policed and controlled like a FUCKING prison because everyones shooting each other at the 49ers raiders game or some kids crying cause he got bullied and shoots 30 human beings nxt day at school..

i admire the UK, police carry batons and thats considered a big advantage when your fighting with fists like a dispute should be settled.:bobby: lol

Before we defend our friends, don't we need to know who our friends are?
    Russia, Syria, Turkey, Jordan???
I don't hate any of them, but nary a one of them could be called "friend".
On the other hand, if they are all our friends, how can we encourage a fight among friends?
I am not even a pacifist and can't figure out how we are better off for getting involved in that mess.

I know that because we are in NATO that we are supposed to bleed and die if any other NATO member nation gets picked on by another country.

If you make a foolish promise that will result in great evil if you keep it...
Doesn't it make more sense to be called a fool for breaking it than being called a fool for keeping it?

I was just about to post about this... turkey has the manpower to defend itself, and they might have allies that will fight.

in any case the US does not need this, we need to fix the homeland first, and we cannot elect another wartime president this is getting ridiculous...

That's right! Turkey will do just fine without our "help". They are armed to the teeth.
Assad is just stupid and greedy enough to start a war with Turkey, but Turkey will finish the war and finish Syria.

Putin is lagging in the polls lately and needs another military victory over a tiny country to boost morale and his poll numbers.

I just hope Obama is not thinking the same thing!

Imagine if the United States stayed out of a Middle Eastern quarrel for once.
It would take at least one kettle off the flame wouldn't it?
