Can you belive that we are on the verge of putting the Republicans back in power just because Democrats weren't able to fix the Republicans' mess within two years? What kind of logic is this?

I find it difficult to blame the system for the stupidity of the voters. The concerns of the majority of voters are not in the qualifications of a candidate, but lie in more superficial and selfish reasons.

Incumbants in general are in trouble, and there are more Democratic ones so..

What I found really surprising was this poll in USA Today that showed that women have jumped from 59% democratic and 36% republican to 49% repbulican and 46% democratic.

I always vote to balance power..I'm more than happy to see the Republicans take back control of house or senate and will be blindly pulling republican all the way down. The less the government can get done the better.

I personally don't take the polls as definite. I find they are often slanted, a political tool to be used to misdirect opinion and generate doubt. They are like statistics, they can be twisted to say anything you want them to.

If you want Obama to win re-election in 2012, you better hope the Tea Party wins everything next week. Two years from now the voters will be ready to vote out the party in power (again), no matter which one it is, because the world won't be perfect and the sky won't be raining free money.

Sometimes people give a radical answer to a pollster as a form of protest over the available options, then vote in a more rational way on election day. I hope this is what we are seeing now. If a pollster called me today, I would be tempted to give them a bogus answer to throw a scare into the mainstream candidates. I want to send the message that I'm not happy with the status quo. But I'm not unhappy enough with the Democrats to vote for fools and idiots. Nothing gets better when you elect people with limited reasoning skills.

Government BY the people? I don't think either party is willing to allow that to happen, and it appears that a large number of the people are unwilling also. Obviously, professional rulers are preferable to any of the ignorant masses.

Just curious, but does anyone know if Jimmy Carter has been asked to monitor the elections?

    His agenda IS.

I remember Tip O'Neill once using the phrase "All politics is local." for which a supportive case may be made, but what most people fail to recognize is that all elections have become Nationalized as a result of the parties use of the 17th amendment and activist Federal judges manipulative interpretation of the Constitution, while ignoring the purpose of the 10th amendment.

Someone needs to convince people that third parties have a chance. I'm tired of people only getting two choices.

Yes, this country is really getting ready for two more political parties. The Democrats are awful and the Republicans are just completely unacceptable -- all they care about is rich people, still feeding us that trickle-down economics that we know for sure doesn't work.

I say two more parties, because our nation is so very split. Something like the Tea Party is OK for the non-rich right-wing, but the left needs some kind of progressive or green party that doesn't support abortion-on-demand or worse-than-useless wars.
