This is right now my number one favorite progressive rock band. They are similar to Deep Purple but much more progressive. I've only heard their 1972 album, "The Magician's Birthday". This is a band that the radio would never ever play any songs from them, which I absolutely like because this is a very strange different type of progressove rock band, a much more heavier prog, sounding also a bit like Led Zeppelin.
In "The Magician's Birthday" album, they sound simiilar to the Pink Floyd song: "One Of These Days". They show some similarities to Pink Floyd.
I'm listening Uriah Heep just right now & I was going to open a new thread about them when I noticed this thread! I didn't listen to them very much, but now I'm listening it & I think - it's a great music! My favourite song - JULY MORNING! It's so amazing!
my dad went to so many of there concerts the used to dress in costumes like knights at there concerts and SPINAL TAP is a movie and there music is really good
Yes, Uriah Heep is a great band. I have listened many different albums and I know well their story. Thats why I recommend you to listen only the old records, when David Byron was the lead singer. That is really heavy-prog-rock!
I an see comparisons to Pink Floyd, with the screaming, though it is in a different style. Uriah Heep's album "The Magician's Birthday" (1972) sounds very occullt and gospel. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes i confirm when singer Byron was there they were better... Here are the album i recommend & not only me but most rock critics & uriah heep fan think more or less the same Good Uriah Heep Album - 'Salisbury' beg. 1971 - 'Magician Birthday' end 1972 - 'Firefly' beg. 1977 (Byron quit & 1st lp with new singer John Lawton) Excellent Uriah Heep Album - 'Look at Yourself' end 1971 - 'Demons & Wizards' beg. 1972 There is some other 'not bad' albums ... as Sweet Freedom (the tittle is a little mirrage) or their 2 first LPs of 1970 etc... but generaly those albums & the rest of the discography is without much interest ...just with 2-3 interesting songs to offer by album...
AA Uriah Heep is one the best band ever (for me). Even bands like Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden and Queen admited, that Uriah Heep had pretty big influence on their work. I am pissed off when I call to the radio station and I want to hear one song...and they only have Lady in black :S ... come on people I want some of their REAL MAGIC! People say that they are like Deep Purple...but in my opinion, they are much better...they are more progressive and the lyrics are much deeper. They were creating excelent, deep and magical songs wich are sooo underrated. That realy makes me sad. I recommend you albums like... From David Byron's era: Demons and Wizards, The Magicians Birthday, Salisbury, Very Eavy Very Umble, Sweet Freedom and one of the best albums ever...Look at yourself. From John Lawton's era : Firefly, Fallen angel. Heep on
I have Look At Yourself, Demons and Wizards, The Magicians Birthday, and Abominog, and they're all pretty good albums.
Uriah Heep is one of my favorites, and they have been ever since my father started giving me his old records (we have the exact same taste in music). They are an excellent band, and I am glad someone has finally created a thread based upon them.
Yes I'm glad to. I am realy glad to see that there are some fans of magnificent band like Uriah Heep on this forum. Respect guys (and girl lol) . I only know 4 UH fans in real life . Heep forever!
