My favorite "craft" is being the hostess. Oh how I love to throw parties. I love the planning and the decorating and the invitations and buying the supplies and making the food, etc. It really is an art. Some people can do it and some can't. I'm the queen of dinner parties round these parts.

I imagine you were wondering about other types of crafts though, well aside from writing poetry and short stories I also like to make my own soap. I usually make it and give it out as gifts. I made beautiful soap by accident once that had oatmeal in it and some other dried herbs/flowers, it was so pretty. My mom has it displayed in a basket in her bathroom, but when you use it, it clogs up the tub. Then this other time I made the best soap in the whole world, it made me so soft. It was eucalyptus and hemp soap. I made it because my boyfriend had a cold, and I figured the eucalyptus would help the congestion. It did, but the best part is not only does it wake you up in the morning but it is so good for your skin. Next time I'm going to add fresh orange rind to it.

Cutelildeadbear, do you sell your soap? I think the stuff that you made for your boyfriend sounds lovely!

I buy my hemp at Wal Mart or Micheal's when it's on sale, but I try to support local small businesses so I usually buy it from the hemp store downtown.

I macrame and crochet with hemp, make wire and bead jewelry, design and sew clothing, paint and draw, garden & wild crafts (pressed leaves, wreaths, etc) , scrapbooking ,and I love doing craft projects with my daughter.

You should be able to pick some up at your local hippie shop~or craft shop~If not try a search for hemp cord or hemp twine~you should come up with tons of online places to buy it~
My favorite craft is sewing and applique~but I love to make hemp jewelry too~

I go back and forth between crochet and quilting---I can't afford all the "upscale" (how I hate that word!) fancy yarns and yard goods, but since I am the Queen of the Thrift Shops I buy bags of yarn and long skirts and such to cut up for patches, etc. I have lots of plastic totes full of stuff so I can just go "shopping" in my basement for whatever color I want. I also like embroidery (not cross stitch) but it's hard for me to see to do it anymore, so I don't do much.

I made crocheted lace a long while back, a collar and cuffs for a friend's wedding dress, size 30 ecru cotton in an Irish leaf-and-rose pattern. Probably my best work so far, but that about wore me out!

I love beading projects... I find myself always going back to beading a necklace or bracelet for myself... I find some neat patterns and ideas and fun colours.

I also love hempy crafts - I make my own flower pot holders sometimes as gifts.

My new kick though is crocheting - I'm learning how and currently making scarves for a charity through my work at lewiscraft called Knit for Kids, where the Salvation Army is collecting anything knit, esp. scarves, hats, and mits.
