oh come down further to georgia and you will be a goddamn motherfucking yankee lol.......i am a confederate.....and i dont have a problem with any yankee who moves to the south as long as they dont constantly talk about what kind of hicks we are, because that is why most yankees are hated in the south, also it helps if yuou speak slowly and lose the accent lol.....peace.

It's Rock 'n' Roll that made me a Confederate. Rock and Roll has always gloryfied the South, and it comes from the South. Rock 'n' Roll also made me a degenerate delinquent. It is the Devil's music.

I don't have a problem with the inbreeding or the hickness.

It's the whole slavery-racism thing I got problems with.

    UNION

I'm southern, born and raised....and considering the big beef of the civil war was the argument over states rights, which are being trod on today, as we speak, I'm still....a rebel....

It is so funny how everyone always automatically identifies southerners as racists....a lot of us really arent that racist....we have grown up with black people...I have met more racist yankees than southerners.....Honestly even northerners have agreed with me...The majority of black people still live in the south and there are A LOT who still live out in the country with us redneck inbred "racist" sons a bitches....actually my best friend is black and has a battle flag hun gup on his wall.....peace.

yeah, we're all not racist....and the civil war was not about slavery, contrary to popular belief....it was about the debate over state's rights....

Well said! It's too damned bad that more people don't realize this. Some important things to remember: Slavery was becoming a dying institution by the 1860s. Robert E. Lee willingly freed his slaves at the beginning of the war. One of Abe Lincoln's quotes was something to the effect of "If I could keep the country together without freeing one slave, I would do it!" so I question his motives. By the time the Gettysburg address was made in 1863, events likely forced him to call and end to slavery. There were Union slave stated including Maryland, Delaware, Kentucky and Missouri. I believe West Virginia may have also been one.

In any event, I was born in western NY and raised in MD where I still live. I deplore racism and religious zealousness and am a strong advocate for individual freedom. That probably qualifies me as a rebel, I s'pose.

about the whole "If I could keep the country together without freeing one slave, I would do it!"
I have heard arguements that this is usually taken out of context and that it shouldn't be taken as an endorsement for slavery

I've always been taught the Civil War was about slavery... what was it really about?

If you think rednecks are limited to the South you've obviously never been to Vermont,Maine or certain areas of upstate NY. Just change the accent, replace the broken down cars with broken down snowmobiles and replace the Busch and Budweiser with Gennesse or LaBatts.

I've met many Vermonters that reminded me of Larry,Darryl and Darryl from the old Bob Newheart show.
