Dave grohl was on the chris moyles show on Radio 1 in the UK this morning and said that in the states Oasis are subtitled when interviewd. is this true? People in the north of england dont speak prim and proper like alot of Americans might think. Do any of you ever have trouble understanding ceretain British peoples accents?
I have no problem with understanding them, but I'm sure there are people. Not to mention, more times than not, no music is played on US TV ;_;
do you not get to hear alot of british tunes in the states then? the music scene is fucking quality here at the minute. from the start of the millenium it was all manufactured pop stars with the odd class act getting un noticed. now the live music scene is amazin! id love to go to NY, Seatle and the deep south to see some live music it would be class!
I've met loads of people from the UK, having lived in Europe as well as being from Manhattan, and I never had any trouble talking with any of them. sometimes the denser Scottish accents are kind of difficult. I also once met a kid from Leeds who I could hardly understand, but I think that was just him because his sister spoke more clearly. and of course that weird Cockney rhyming slang just sounds like rubbish to me.
US music industry = faggy pop-emo shit that only the trendy fucks listen to. For instance: Waa Waa Waa, my girl friend, she hates me, and doesn't, care about me, so I wanna go to my room and play my arm violin all night and maybe sycophant and wear womens clothes, along with some shitty make up, and a lame ass hair cut that makes the back shaved and the front long over one eye. While the whole time going through a 1/4 time and playing the same 2 chords, until they get the bridge, where then, AND ONLY THEN, does it change to a 3 chord song for 8 seconds. FUX YEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOV AMERIKANER!!!
and I'd like to add I would not be surprised if members of Oasis were subtitled in the States. the media does tend to cater to the needs of the base masses...
Which is why the end is so eminent. Shitty movies, shitty music (some exceptions), shitty people. LETS GO December 21st, 2012!!!
i know what you mean about that popy emo shit shit. My chem romance for example. arghhh. it pisses me of. theres a band called the artic monkeys and i dont think theyed catch on in the US but over here there massive. but the songwriter is (i dont want to sound like a dick but) writing working class poetry in his lyrics. you build a story in your head as you listen. listen to "when the sun goes down" by "the artic monkeys" its a funny, tragic but true song in every country.
I'll be 21. I wanna have a huge ass party and then wait for the massive fires, storms, and floods. Best way to go out would be partying, eh?!
I can't stand the Arctic Monkeys. My favorite band that is still producing is probably Clutch. I love how the make up their own sorta sub-genre and always make kick ass music. Tool is roxx0rz too, but who knows when they are gonna put out a new album, it took them 7 years between Lateralus and 10,000 days. Also, if Choking Victim were to put out a new album, I think it would be pretty kick ass. And of course Les Claypool is and always will be Gawd ;D
also about your shitty movies comment. i know exactly what you mean. either teen angst comedies (so to speak) or films with no story line but millions of special effects. top 3 UK films in my eyes are 1. trainspotting 2. lock stock and two smoking barrells 3. this is England!
yeah, they're kind of big here in certain circles of people; like, people who actually listen to music. they're okay, I guess. my ex-girlfriend liked them a lot.
the UK music scene has seen better days (and you have no one but yourselves to blame). in my opinion.
Explain please??? more people are going to live music, buying guitars etc and generally not acepting that pop idol TV kind of bullshit. you should see the bands coming out of Britain now. quality.
I do. I like a lot of current British bands, but I also see way too much hyperbole from hack critics. and even if it isn't Pop Idol, so what? tasteful music is not supposed to sound like Pop Idol. ever. of course, I'm not deeply immersed in any actual scene you have going on over there (as I don't live there), so I suppose I'm not qualified to really talk about it.
anything is better than the MCR, cartel, snow patrol, the fray and all the rap that has been flooding the radiostations here booo 94.5 and 102
