Hey all, this is my first gro, kinda just a test run now, but I think I already f'ed myself so to speak. I germ'd 6 seeds, 3 in 2 bags. 1 bag had just 1 paper towel under the seeds, the other had one over and one under the seeds. As I predicted, the 2-towel bag germ'd very quick (imho), 1in. sprouts<48 hours. Now I just read on another pot forum that NE America has 6 weeks to go until outdoor is ready for launch. Now the problem is this, I can keep the plants by the window in a room noone goes into, but I don't know how long before they really starts to stink. My other problem is I'm not quite sure if the whole "by the window" thing will work like I hope. I figure pot is pretty close to most other plants in the basics of growing, but once again, this is my self-educating test. so I guess my 2 big questions are: 1) How long till the big stink? (more than 5+ ft) 2) Will setting the plants by a window hold them for the 6 weeks (I'll risk 4 or 5, or even 3, depending on the big stink)
Your plants wont start to stink until they start budding, and thats like... 3 or 4 months. Where do you live? I'm in southern US and I have my plants outside right now. Started them last week...
yeah but when they do start budding how bad will it stink, say im growing in my big bedroom and no one goes into it and the door is always closed, but will it still stink up the house cuz i open the window now and then and as i said the door is closed, just how bad ???
It will smell pretty potent from what I've heard. Some can be smelled ten feet away, and some 30 feet away. And thats outdoors.
Okay, now ive got another question, how can i keep the damned plants from bending towards the light? im a bit nervous when they get heavier they will snap the stalk... This morning at 10am i noticed it was bending pretty well (about 35 degrees) so i rotated the pot 180 degrees so it would hopefully straighten up... much to my dismay, i found that by 1pm it had done the EXACT SAME THING in the opposite direction... is this something i should worry too much about and if so how can i prevent it? btw the plant is on a windowsill...
From experience plants grown on windowsills grow very "leggy" (skinny and tall) possibly to the extent of not being able to stand by itself Especially in a breeze. tooth picks, straws, etc. can be used to tie them up, but turning them every 4 hours of light helps. As to the time factor, winter sun isn't very strong, so they probably won't get so big as to cause a problem.
well dayum naturalhi, tyvm for the information! I also heard from a friend that turning them so they grow straight will take "energy" from the plant that could be used for growing/making more leaves, but instead is put towards straightening it. is this true at all? in theory it makes sense, not sure irl tho. they both are pretty lanky too i believe, one is 2in. from soil to Coty. and the other is 3in. from soil to coty. this has taken about 2 weeks from germination in the baggies, and about a week and a half since i planted them. both are developing their first set of 2 leaves, but those are only about an eighth (lol, that's a pun) of an inch so far.
well my friends, it looks like operation overgrow is over for teh Drakk420. I've noticed 2 cars in the past two weeks, one black and one white that take an interest in my house until i take an interest in them, then they speed off from the way they came. Maybe i'm being too paranoid but i'd rather be paranoid than arrested. thanks for all the tips tho guys, it helped while it lasted.
