I can't believe no one's mentioned Bill Bruford or Stu Copeland. I mean, yeah, Bonzo sure knows how to drive the beat; he's one of my favorites... but I wouldn't exactly rate him the tops 'based on complexity'. Feelwise, though, he's unbeatable. You could fit a Volkswagen in one of his kick drums.[IMG]

John Bonham and John Densmore are both great drummers who have influenced me over the years, but by no means would I ever consider "complex" a good adjective to describe their styles.

IMHO the words "Tre Cool" and "Travis Barker" shouldn't come within 50 miles of any "greatest drummers ever" or "best feel ever" list, but to each their own...

Current top 10 favorites (not necessarily the "best ever"): Mitch Mitchell, Bill Bruford, Peter Leopold (Amon Düül II), Jaki Liebezeit (Can), Billy Martin (MMW), Pierre Moerlen (Gong), Daniel Denis (Univers Zero), Bill Ward (Black Sabbath), Jack DeJohnette, Bill Kreutzmann. A nice mix of complexity and feel...
