You should wash them whenever they feel dirty. I would say the V05 shampoo is a no-go, especially if you just backcombed them. You should get some Dr.Bronners bar soap, you can get it at a health store line GNC, or online. They will probably fall out anyway which is why there's not much of a point to backcomb in the first place. You could of probably just left them natural and they would dread.

I started washing with bronners 3 months ago. I can see some knotting but its going to take along time. Especially since my hair is only about 4-5 inches long. Good Luck :)

i dont know about the VO5 or whatever but dirty hair locks slower than clean hair. your locks will happen so dont be afraid to wash if your hair is feeling scuzzy.

im guessing that V05 has a lot of chemicals in it that are not good for dreadlocks. You would be better off grabbing a bar of soap and washing your hair with that, but really you just need to get some residue-free soap.

    Wash that shit.
    Chemicals don't kill people overnight.
Keep in mind that some people don't have access to Dr. B and it takes a debit/credit card and a 8 day to get it shipped (Thruogh the site.)

As long as the shampoo doesnt have a conditioner in it like a 2 in 1 shampoo it will be fine. Each time I wash mine with ordinary shampoo they tighten up. Dr Bronners is not necessary if you dont want it or cant get it.
