Ok so basically, my entire head is dreaded at least the slightest bit. Some are dreaded only at the root, some in the middle, and some on the tip. My job is complaining about my hair, they are cool with dreads, just not the messy phase you have to go through to get them (if you choose the neglect method) How can I speed them up or at least semi fake it, to clean up my head a little bit. I was thinking of using rubberbands to help distinguish which dread is which, because the problem is, My head is full of tiny dreads, I need them to combine so it doesn't look like such a mess. sorry if its confusing.
yea they gave me a company hat to wear like 2 months ago, so my hair is starting to stick out under neath the hat. I still wear it, but my hair is growing out. Its about 5 or so inches
nope I tried wearing a plain black beanie, that my hair could tuck in to a little bit, but they said it had to be a company hat. I have like 100 tiny dreads, I think if I rubberband like 3 together at a time, they will take better shape. My hair doesn't look too dreaded because alot of them are tiny, so it just looks messy
make the hat into a visor and wear it over a tam, ha ha. try experimenting with bandannas and things. maybe use some aloe if your hair is frizzy. im thinking you could do something with a bandanna and wear your hat loose to fit your hair in. i was thinking of some things that might strike a political nerve but they might not be the best choices in the long run. you could try hair wraps, see if they dig it. where do you work?
I work at a valvoline car shop, and its run by short haired marine guys. So I work on cars, and have to talk to people and such
by the way, is it normal for me to have a bajillion little dreads at first? They finally calmed down and dont stand straight up, unless I want them to. I think they may be shrinking or something.
word, they'll probably shrink a lot more in teh next month. just keep washing and it should help them lock if you keep them under the hat only when they're dry. just try to tuck em back under the hat or bandana under a hat. i bet they'll get shorter and more spiked before they get better, good luck. mmg
put a hair band around them in the back to hold them back,,, use a scrunchy or something,, take your baseball cap and loosen the strap on it a bit and it should keep them under control...i have a huge a huge head with big ol dreadies and it works well ... doesnt look much different than havin a pony tail back there nevermind ,,, that is the shortest five inches i ever seen... just loosen your hat a bit n lay them flat as ya can going toward the back of your head and throw the hat on...,,, may wanna try a skull cap thing as well then put the hat on over it...
wow that's looking great maybe you could try rubbing 'm so they'll grow together? I mean rubbing 'm together, like take 3 roots and rub together on your head.
i bet these marines like your spacers too? well, your hair looks really cool for baby locks, i'm sure there are people out there who would want that specific look. this wont make things look neater, but an easy way to make locks thicker is to take to small ones and wrap them around each other. they wont stay wrapped and will undo, but by the time they do there should be a significant portion of the locks locked together. all you need to do after that is wait for them to completely suck each other in. have you asked about just wearing a tam? they're not exactly business like, but they are hip and keep your hair neat and out of the way, which is exactly what your employers want right? edit: nvm, missed one of your posts.
those look great! you can combine them by putting more than one in a bead, crocheting them together, or if you want them lots thicker, braiding three together. really they look wonderful for how short your hair is, keep it up
wow thanks for all the replies. Shaving my head crossed my mind the other day, not too seriously, but it was an idea. I think I will wait it out after all these replies hah. Surprisingly they dont mind my plugs so much, though my lip ring has been brought up a couple times. Thanks for the sideburns compliment haha, I always liked dreads with sideburns. I would like to try using beads, but im afraid I will need too many if I want them to combine more.
