Sooo sick of hearing about the "dangers of oral piercings." These news/medical journals carry no authority with me. Any personal stories about tongue piercings? (I'm thinking of getting one.. just trying to do all possible research )
before anybody says something ridiculous like "they can cause nerve danage in your face" or "you will bleed to death" or anything like that... it holds many of the same risks as any other piercing. the only unique risks i would say is swallowing the jewelry if it isnt tight, and biting it and chipping teeth. oh, and gum recession.
^^ lol so far i have had mine for about a year and a half, and i have yet to chip any teeth.. the only problem i've encountered is the receeding of my gums.. but i have my doubts about whether or not the piercing is causing that because considering that my mother has a receeding gum line, i figure it would happen whether or not i had the piercing.. i kind of suck on my tongue in my sleep, so sometimes i wake up and the barbell has been pressed against a spot so long that its gotten a little sore.. but it's never broken skin or anything.. hope that helps you
ive had my tongue piercing for just over a year and ive had no problems with it, the only one was where i swalloed my tongue ball a few times but meh, no chipping of teeth has ever happened to me so far
