I don't put much faith into anniversaries, but if it's really troubling you, or making you nervous; I suppose I'd recommend avoiding it too.

    Was it real bad?
    Are you okay?

    It was pretty bad.

Found myself upside down in a ditch. Unable to release my seat belt. Unable (when I finally did) to open the doors. Unable to work out how to open an upside-down tailgate.

It still makes me feel all shivery and nervous just thinking about it!

The date would hold no relevance on the chance of another accident happening tomorrow, but if you are nervous driving that certainly would. Glad you are okay.... Be safe out there every day.

    Buy one of http://www.amazon.com/LifeHammer-Original-Emergency-Hammer-Orange/dp/B000BN3A4Y"]these.

The safety hammer is made specifically for breaking the window even if submerged underwater (something that the Mythbusters proved very difficult with most items), and it has a seatbelt cutter on the other end. Whenever I get my license, I won't drive without one.

That really sucks though. Try to remember how lucky you are that it wasn't worse. I'm a survivor of a house-fire and a car-engine-fire, myself. I definitely don't appreciate the position I am in enough.

Well if it's any consolation the mathematical statistics of you actually getting in another vehicular accident that isn't fatal and on the anniversary of a previous accident are approx 9.6 million to one. Unless it's raining, in that case it's 7.9 million to one, depending on whether or not you travel in a metropolitan city on your journey. :)

Actually, for some reason best known to themselves, when I sought a quote for the replacement car they offered me "introductory" full protected NCB on the new policy ... so I'm actually in a better insurance position after the accident than I was before (and it's not as though the replacement car is a "safer" car either: I took the insurance cheque and used it to buy the SLK :mickey:)

Don't ask me to explain it ... I can't. That's just the way it is, and I'm not complaining :daisy:

Drive somewhere and treat yourself to something nice when you get there. You survived; that's a sign the world wants you around. Don't live in fear because you're obviously "charmed".

Did you have an accident forgiveness clause in your policy?

I think "accident forgiveness" is what we call "protected No Claims Bonus"

It was a multi-car policy ... and I had protected NCB on the other car (the MG) but not on the one that died in a ditch. I now have protected NCB on both.

Like I say, don't ask me to explain ...

I happened upon a fresh accident quite a few years ago that involved a lady upside down in the ditch with her seatbelt holding her in...i had stopped because a kid had pulled over and was standing there like an idiot so i asked if he needed help and he just pointed down in the ditch...the tires were still turning it was that fresh

I yanked open the door and got a whiff of the alcohol breath

then i turned around ...walked back up the ditch and left ..and didnt feel bad about leaving

weird fact is I met her again about 6 months later in the lobby of the police station while getting a copy of an accident report from another accident where a drunk had crashed into me lol (i didnt get hurt though)

I've found myself suddenly sideways, lol, as opposed to upside down. Never trust just the turn signal from another car. Hubby got us T-Boned that way. We did a 1/4 roll in the van. It was surreal hanging there from my belt in the passenger seat looking down at him. When people started gathering around wanting to help I had to yell at them to open the back hatch. When that was opened, I looked at Hubby, said I'm out of here, released my belt, fell on top of him, scrambled through the back of the van and found day light. Lol, Hubby made his way out somehow too.
