I was in the store the other day.. looking at "english muffins"... and I noticed that 2 differents brands had a koala bear... and the other had a kangaroo.... so i was like... wait... I thought they were english not australian???? so.... I looked at the name and it said "toaster biscuts" on the ones with kangaroos/koalas... so WTF is it??? Are they not really english??? whats happening to the world?????????????????????????
well you'd have to ask someone from over there to know for sure, but like a lot of american names for things, the term english muffins, like french fries, and a host of other nonsense with the names of 'forign' countrys in them, america, as far as i know is the only place that calls them that. also the american "english muffin" has like a crust on one side so the holes don't go all the way through so the jam doesn't drip all over your fingers. this is a great concept. but i don't think it has anything to do with anything from england or oz or any place else. american culture promotes the perception that the rest of the world is a little more backwards, a little more self isolated, a little more not with it then itself. the reality, at least as far as other wealty nations is concerned, and probably quite a few not so wealthy ones as well, is just the opposite. the only thing america has is the most powerful army in the world. this lets it get away with lying to itself. but only americans believe it when it does. =^^= .../\...
You should try that with a poached egg, two rashes of lean smoked bacon and a slice of thin cheese. It's so awesome for breakfast with orange juice!
While it's a great idea and I usually eat the same thing (only with a fried egg instead of a poached egg) McDonald's still has the franchised rights to the McMuffin :H Hotwater
I usually fry my egg in one of those things that make the egg round shaped (fuck knows what their called I'm pissed atm). Their awesome cause the egg fits perfectly in the muffin. Add salt and pepper and your good to go
