"The other day I was reading Newsweek magazine and came >across some poll data I found rather hard to believe. "Think about it......are you upset at the President because he actually caused you personal pain OR is it because the "Media" told you he was failing to kiss your sorry ungrateful behind ever y day." Oh? An interesting post we have here. Some of us are HIP to the art of projection, so spare us the BS. We are taught right, and wrong from an early age. We are also taught what this nation stands for. Which means, we do not need the "media" to tell us when Our Employees are not living upto that standard. "Make no mistake about it. The troops in Iraq and Afghanistan have volunteered to serve, and in many cases may have died for your freedom." "Make no mistake", cough cough "There is currently no draft in this country. They didn't have to go. They are able to refuse to go and end up with either a ''general'' discharge, an ''other than honorable'' discharge or, worst case scenario, a ''dishonorable'' discharge after a few days in the brig." It doesn't matter why they die They do it just the same Asking only not to call When actions are insane Fighting wars For many whores That dwell In what's DC. On golden sand The oil man Deals freedom By decree It matters not Why they fought We all were led Astray Just like here Blood and tears For brothers Who wore grey Many rows Of marking stones Even Johnny Reb From boys in blue To Jackson's crew They Are Our honored dead mr_alleycat Please do not try to hijack their sacrifice.
i absolutly love this post and i agree 100% and if u dont mind i wanna put it in a blog. is that ok? a blog on myspace giving u the credit for writing it, but thats exactally how i feel, but i have no idea how to get them out..
yeah go ahead pocketmouse, it was actually jay leno who wrote this letter. who woulda thought that huh? i think its very good.....an alleycat, quoting lines in this post then pasting some little poem is dumb. you only picked at little pieces of this post and then quoted it with no rebuttle. oh and so you know, i am a puprle heart recipient, i was shot in the leg in june so i have sacrificed. but you wouldnt know that so im tellin you now. why can you just relax and go with the flow, shit is fucked up and it always will be, just live with it and stop complaining
I am grateful to live in a place where I have the right to disagree (so far). I am very grateful that I have a house and water and food and money, yes I AM grateful. But the government is a bunch of greedy rascist misogynstic assholes. As a woman and as a supporter of equal rights for EVERYONE I am angry about that. The government doesn't care about the people. Yes America is great because we have opportunities but some things could be changed. I dislike the government and president because they don't support women or gay people or transgender people or black people or poor people and they are killing billions of people for NO GOOD REASON. And thats why I'm upset. Not because the media told me to - hah! The media lies to you! Are you joking!? When has the media actually said anything bad about the president? I'm grateful, but the government needs to change and give a shit about people.
Might be slightly interesting if it didn't look like you had cut and pasted it from an email you received. Our founding fathers knew that if the citizens in this country did not stay vigilant, there would be tyrants that would try to take away their rights, by promising them protections that, as being already outlined in the constitution are not theirs to sell. Don't tell me I am privileged and blessed at the same time you seek to take away my rights granted to me under the constitution. It's hollow, and it's a lame marketing stradegy that won't work with those of us that bother to think. The biggest thing this nation was ever blessed with was a constitution, which if upheld will protect their basic rights. This president didn't guide any of us in the "dark days" after 09/11, he used it to fullfill the agenda of republican hawiks. Guidance and intelligence would have built on the understanding and sympathies of the world community at that moment in time instead of pitting us against the rest of the world by going to war with a country that posed no threat. Deriding past allies like France, and running down Germany certainly made friends and built a coalition didn't it?
very good detective! it does look as if i cut and pasted doesnt it? yeah i got this in an email that was ulitimatly written by jay leno some time ago. and i think the point to the post isnt all about praising bush or saying anything is justified. just that people like you complain way to much and yet you live in the best place in the world. perhaps you should visit somewhere where things such as we have dont exist and then come back after... oh maybe a year or so. maybe then you will appreciate what you have and just relax and stop all this whining nonsense.
God, are you serious?? For the record, I've been to Tanzania, South Africa, and Mexico (Guadalajara, not just border towns), among other places, so yeah, I've seen how other people live. I just think it's bullshit that you (or whoever wrote that) think that happiness is based on such external factors. Maybe they don't like the way the values of this country have gone from freedom-loving to fox-news-humping. Maybe they don't like all the greed, the fear-mongering, the oppression of the poor (the american poor--they do exist you know). And I really fucking hate it when people suggest we go to ANOTHER country to see the third world. Excuse me, but have you ever been on an INDIAN RESERVATION? Have you ever been to the Mississippi delta region? Hell, have you ever been to the Bayview/Hunters Point neighborhood of San Francisco? (a supposedly wealthy city). You're an idiot if you think poverty only exists in Africa (and btw, don't you think it's insulting to the Africans to always use them as the worst possible example of everything?) I don't remember anyone complaining about having electricity all the time. I think they're complaining more about silly things--like the loss of habius corpus, the loss of the right to privacy, the loss of the right to vote (the company which produces all the voting machines is owned by staunch conservatives and it has already been shown they are easily hacked into). You know, petty stuff.
I find much irony in the misuse of statistics here; either it is pure ignorance or a hilariously bad manipulation in an "article" decrying the manipulation of the media. I'll give you a hint - a 4.5 percent unemployment rate doesn't mean that 94.6 percent of people have jobs.
this thread has to be the dumbest thing I've ever read, and it makes Jay Leno into more of an imbecile than I would have thought possible. I won't even bother with a retort, because to engage in debate with retarded people is below my standards.
i dont remember africa being singled out for anything. and i dont need to be lectured about poverty or jobless shit by anyone. ive been there and ive come out of it. anyone can do it, it is their choice to be there. maybe if they quit working at burger king and put the crack pipe down, and go to school and make something of themself there wouldnt be anything to bitch about. but the other way to look at it, is this country needs poor people, who is gonna pick the fields, do our landscaping, work in the grimey factories to make us the things we dont need like computers for one example. i think this thread was to try to get people to realized the good in this country instead of always focusing on negative shit. seriously, when was the last time one of said something good about anything?
oh yeah and i think you meant 'native american' reservation right? yeah well every where i go i see fuckin casinos. so those bastards are makin out ok so dont bring that shit up. and strawbery you have been to some places that sounds like a place to take a vacation! are YOU serious? ive traveled the world as well. perhaps now that you know im in the army you will hate me even more right?!?!
i also find it interesting that the 'american poor' is always referred to as 'they'. seems like not many of you have been there. but i know now that i have said that you all will claim to be poor.

I find it interesting that apparently Americans are the only people in the world who have electricity and running water, and that not agreeing with the government on certain issues somehow makes me ungrateful regarding completely unrelated issues.
I have met PLENTY of spoiled americans, I have also met PLENTY of Americans in need. People who dont have a home or a bed to sleep in or a regular meal. Veterans, children - people who gave of themselves in order to protect/serve. The children who havent had the chance to develop and prosper. Just people, people who havent had a fair chance, but deserve it. NOT ALL POOR ARE LAZY CRACKHEADS MOTOKOP88 AND NOT ALL POOR HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET OUT OF A BAD SITIUATION WITHOUT HELP... As far as your military status - dont hide behind that uniform. your opinions are yours not the Army's soldier. OLDFART = Former high speed low drag teflon coated iron balled bad ass.... 1/101st - HOOAH! No one here will ever judge you for your service and if they do - well I'll whoop em for ya- be safe, come home.
