This year I should be a Junior but I'm a Senior because I have aquired all the credits I need. Last year I made the decision to be a Senior because I wanted to hurry up and get out of highschool because I don't really know or talk to anyone at school.

Once this year came along I ws excited to be a senior but now as the college selection and process has arrived I am very stressed and confused. I have come to realize that I won't get the same graduating expierence by graduating early than as if I were to graduate with my class. Even though I don't personally know many people in my class I have still became faintly acquanted with most people.

If I were to graduate this year, graduation will not be as exciting. It will be boring because I will be watching people, whom I don't know, graduate. Graduating next year shall be more fun because it will be the process of watching the people I grew up with, make it into the world.

Graduating this year will give me a head start on life but am I cheating myself? Am I mature enough? Do I have the mental stregnth?

I have already started the year by being a Senior and my question now is, should I continue with the process and graduate this year or should I wait until next year and just have a really easy year next year?

I have already had my Senior pictures taken and taken the SAT's. I told my self I would make my final decision on graduation, this weekend.

    NOW FOR YOUR HELP.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR VIEWS AND OPINIONS ON THIS MATTER.

I'd say if you acquired all the credits you need already, that took determination and motivation - so yes, you are mature enough. If you have a clear vision of what you're going to do when you get out, I'd say go for it. If you're just ho-hum and not exactly sure, wait a year, do some more thinking about what you want out of college, and where to go...and graduate with your class. If you have all your credits, though, what would you do for your official senior year? I mean, what classes would you take? Just whatever you wanted? If that's the case...those classes are free. I'd take advantage of that for another year, if there's classes that don't need, but want...take them in highschool, if offered. :) You say you've started the year as a senior? So, if you decided to wait to graduate next year, what would you do for the rest of this year? There's some stuff I'm unclear about in your post, that makes it hard for me to give you an cut and dried answer. :)

On one hand, graduating early is a huge accomplishment, and might look very good to colleges. On the other hand, like Midget said, free classes your senior year would be totally worth it! Is there a Running Start-type program through your school and a nearby college? You could look into that and get some free college credits even! Or maybe you already have done that, since it's a very easy way to get all your high school credits ahead of everyone else just taking regular high school classes. Okay, after typing that all out, I'm going to say that graduating with your own class and taking whatever you want senior year would be more beneficial. Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

My best friend is graduating early. His high school is an unhealthy environment, though. My school won't allow us to graduate early (because you need both four years of English and history to obtain a diploma).

A lackluster graduation experience is worth the chance of starting out your life early. I'd say go for it. I'm jealous you have this opportunity.

If I was to wait to graduate I would take some psychology classes and art and sewing, just some extra skills I may need in life.

If I was to goto college next yuear I would be a major in English because I want to become an English teacher.

I'm very confused with my decision for this is a decision that will effect my whole life.

***I spoke with my guidence councler today and he said I was one person he thought would nmot back down. I told him my reasons and he said they were good reasons. There is one problem standing in my way if I decide to stay in highschool; I'll have to goto a different school. MY town has two schools and my mom made me goto the one I'm at because my friends goto the other one. Under no condition will my mom allow me to goto this other school. She thinks freinds will bring me down in my studies but i disagree.

You really need to to be able to answer four questions:

    1) Can you afford to stay on another year?

    2) What will you do in that final year?

    3) How will what you do improve you?

    4) Why s that important?

If you can't come up with good answers to these questions, think about doing something else.

I'm technically graduating early as well. I was sick my freshman year so my GPA is only based on 3 years instead of 4. I'm thinking this could give me a disadvantage but it may also make me look very determined my guidance counselor says. Talk to your guidance counselor because they will ultimately be able to help you more than any of us could.

I don't know how good it would look to college if you stayed on and took an easy year. One of the number one acceptance criteria things is rigourous course load.

i thought you were talking about college, but in this case i'd get my ass away from highschool. if you had this problem in college, i would recommend staying as long as you can. i'm a senior in college but i'm coming back in the fall to take a couple more classes since i'm lacking a few credits from my adventures abroad last year...

The whole graduation experience and senior year are overrated. If you have something you want to pursue, my advice is to graduate early and get started. A few years from now, your senior year in high school won't be nearly as important to you as what you've accomplished since then.

Good luck in whatever you choose!

I'm with Blueriver, though I have not graduated yet-- I'm looking into getting my GED or intense learning-- I'll take the bit of pain just to get onto greater things.

^^ uni is like the easiest thing in the world compared to high school, no joke. i never thought high school was extremely tough or anything, but it took up an ASSLOAD of time, fucking 9 hours a day. compared to uni, where (at least as a frosh) i do like maybe 2 hours of work a day if you average it out, uni is a breeze so far :D.

i graduated at 16, and spent a year partying before i went to university. its good to move away from the parents early - it leaves you really independent.

I remember I thinked so in earlier age.Stop school out work and get a place of my own......years went by.And I went back to school.Beacuse of the rather lousy jobs you could get and the paycheck. And that I was interessted of learning it grow as I "grow"those days was it not necesarry to read so many years to get a job you love. But now......I have kids myself and I tell my story. But you can always go back to school harder of course if you wait for long.

well the sooner you can be done with the crap someone else insists on filling your head with the more of your life you have left to learn more about what is interesting and useful TO YOU.

colleges and universitys shouldn't even have declaired majors or required subjects other then logical and rational prerequisites, and you should then be allowed and encouraged to take every class in anything that interests you for however many years it takes to do so, even if that means spending the rest of your life doing so if that's what interests you and you want to.

of course you should never assume you really know anything about anything if all you've ever had to do with it is something you've learned in some class either.

I get a kick out of hearing this from students. Like what? Having the freedom to leave laundry on the floor? And spend your parents' money?

Not that you do, of course. ;)

Graduate early, get into uni/college and defer for a year. Spend half a year saving, working a shit job. Spend the second half of the year travelling. That's what I would have done if I wasn't such a tool when I was younger.

High school is overrated, high school graduations even more so. You have your whole life in front of you, so don't worry about stuff that doesn't matter. Spend a year partying, if anyone tries to pull you down, give them the big Fuck You.
