I cant wait to see it, Johnny Depp is an amazing actor being able to change his persona with each character, cant want to see his Mad Hatter
To me he sort of just plays the same part over and over. I was excited, but I must admit, I am not so stoked for it now I have seen the trailer. Go figure, sort of a shame...
I cannot WAIT for this movie. Johnny Depp looks so cool as the Hatter. Plus, Tim Burton is a genius. If it isn't fantastic I will be thoroughly shocked.
yeah i agree,if it sux i'm gonna be so disapppointed tim burton is so creative and i love every movie of his...hope alice will be what is expected
It does look pretty good, but there is A LOT of hype about it, it's kind of annoying. But I think it'll be an ok movie. nothing beats the walt disney one though.
Love Alice, Love TB, will be seeing it @ the El Capitan w/a friend on the 6th. Can't wait! Don't forget the soundtrack comes out Tue...features Robert Smith & Franz Ferdinand *sigh*. In the meantime I'm reading the novels by Lewis Carroll & this... http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Alice-I-Have-Been/Melanie-Benjamin/e/9780385344135/?itm=1
I thought the trailers looked TERRIBLE. After reading some more about the film, I must say I am a bit intrigued, but I am not optimistic - more of unsure of what to expect.
I think tim burton is over rated. I enjoy his movies, but I wouldn't call them great. interesting and entertaining, but nothing that special.
I always found him to be sorta like say... Woody Allen - rather hit and miss - very highly rated - and considered to be very alternative by the mainstream even though he only sorta dabbles in alternative. I think I could find a better comparison, but too sleepy. That being said, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks!, Batman Returns, and Beetlejuice are the only Tim Burton movies I really like (though I haven't seen anything before Pee Wee's Big Adventure) And movies like Corpse Bride, Planet of the Apes, and Sleepy Hollow should automatically disqualify anyone who loves him or considers themselves a major fan's taste.
I'm a big Tim Burton fan and I love Sleepy Hollow. I think its a great retelling of the Headless Horseman story, plus it adds just the right amount of humor. I didn't really care for Tim Burton's version of Batman. I like the heavier, darker versions. Like the newest one with Christian Bale. Beetlejuice is probably my favorite Burton movie, though.
Thought you might like to see how far we've come in the movie special effects in the last 107 years. I'm sure those seeing this movie at the turn of the 20th Century were as blown away as I was today seing it in Digital 3-D. From Wikipedia: Alice in Wonderland (1903) is an early silent film directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow. It was the first movie adaptation of Lewis Carroll's children's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The film is memorable for its use of special effects, including Alice's shrinking in the Hall of Many Doors, and in her large size, stuck inside of White Rabbit's home, reaching for help through a window. Only one copy of the original film is known to exist and parts are now lost. The British Film Institute has partially restored the film and its original colorization. Made just 37 years after Lewis Carroll wrote his novel and eight years after the birth of cinema, the adaptation was directed by Cecil Hepworth and Percy Stow, and was based on Sir John Tenniel's original illustrations. In an act that was to echo more than 100 years later, Hepworth cast his wife as the Red Queen, and he himself appears as the Frog Footman. Even the Cheshire cat is played by a family pet. With a running time of just 12 minutes (8 of which survive), Alice in Wonderland was the longest film produced in England at that time. Film archivists have been able to restore the film's original colours for the first time in over 100 years.
i was slightly opposite...my expectations were TOOOO high and i was pretty disappointed with the movie. i was hoping for a bit more creepiness and i dont know what else, but i was pretty let down. i want to see it again in a few weeks. johnny depp's makeup or however it was done was incredible as many of you know from seeing pictures of him before the movie was released... i chuckled here and there and did enjoy myself, it just wasn't anything extrordinary, ya know? and i fuckin hate sayin that cuz it was alice in wonderland and it had johnny depp in it
