There's a lot of disagreement now how the Constitution should be interpreted. Some say it should be treated as a living, breathing document. Others say only as it was originally intended. (But oddly original intent judges agree some rulings are super precedents. Like selective incorporation and the First Amendment at the state level. But like a heard someone say when they overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. Why is the First Amendment a super precedent and not Roe v. Wade?) Now a couple of things about the Constitution as originally written. The electoral college is stupid. And Supreme Court justices should not be lifelong appointments (but being non-elected is a good idea, so they are above politics). But as my politcal science teacher alluded to in 1997, if we drafted a new constitution (like some suggest, he said) it would be like Bill Maher said: Guns, God and Gays. Yes to guns, yes to God and no to gays, right at the top. Because the radical Republican/Christians control the state houses (who would decide, then). So we have no choice for now but to keep things the way they are, sadly. But the Constitution does still give us a lot of protections. There is no mention of God or Jesus anywhere in it. And separation of church and state is right at the top of the bill of rights, not those other three things.
