i donno bout u guys but wen im high i just love to get deep thoughts. such as last night i watched donnie darko wen ripped. it was great, that movie kicks ass, its such a deep film. im always thinkin deep wen stoned (more so wen on shrooms! there great). any one know other thought provkoing movies etc.?
i dont get why so many ppl think donnie darko is such a "thought provoking" film. It's not made to be that, it's just a Cult Movie based on ideas, there may be some deep stuff etc. but it's not a hard movie to understand at all. Watch pulp fiction, and try to understand everything that goes on and all the lines that are said. There's so many references to pop culture and indie films that it's almost impossible
I saw Hotel Rowanda baked and tripping recently and I was crying at the sad parts. I don't this the mushies helped much in enjoying that one. Great movie overall though, you all should see it.
i get into deep contemplative thought best when i'm stoned and doing nothing. but yea... try Pi "When I was a little kid my mother told me not to stare into the sun. So one day when I was six, I did...the next day I had my first headache." - Max Cohen in "My new Hypothesis: If we're built from Spirals while living in a giant Spiral, then is it possible that everything we put our hands to is infused with the Spiral?" - Max Cohen in the motion picture " That is the truth of our world, Max. It can't be easily summed up with math..." - Sol in . it's pretty crazy but it all makes sense if you can follow it (it's not too hard) and it might create an infatuation with math.
a thought provoking film id recommend is SAW. its pretty dark and twisted though...but i gotta say, they dont make many horror flics like this, these days. the end will blow your mind. another movie that awesome is Waking Life...its a movie about the lucid dream
yea i dunno if staring at the sun could make someone a schizophrenic mathematical genius but his mom probably meant: "Staring into the sun will damage your eyes. Very True. Significant damage can occur if you look at the sun for a period of time, especially during a solar eclipse. Permanent retinal damage is possible from a single prolonged viewing the sun. You or your children should never stare at the sun. Indirect damage can also occur from UV light rays even when not looking directly at the sun. For this reason it is advisable to wear sun glasses when spending time in the sun." http://www.youreyedoctors.com/LMAvisionmyths.html "This damage, called ‘solar retinopathy,’ can occur whenever a person stares at the sun, but typically the bright sun is so irritating that our reflexes cause us to blink and close our eyes." http://www.midwesteyecare.com/talkinghealth/owhq&a86.htm there is that myth that some kids on lsd stared at the sun and got permenant eye damage, but just 'cause that probably didn't really happen doesnt mean it can't happen.
i didnt infer anything about being a mathematical genious, im saying that looking into the sun doesnt make you blind, unless your fuckin stupid and enjoy the feeling of blinding light for long enough that it takes to damage. ive started at the sun for at least a minute before and the only damage it gave me was a splodge in my eyesight for a few minutes. other than that i used to look at the sun all the time because it was fascinating, but its lost its interest now so i dont look at it anymore. id also like someone to be able to explain to me why they make out that an eclipse is worse for your eyes than in daytime? wouldnt the effects of the sun on your eyes during an eclipse be drastically less than if your staring at it at daytime? ive not found anything that ever said someone got blind from staring into the sun cept that story about the lsd users, and fictional stories. i want someone to show me! all the people ive asked who have any idea of the light from the sun have told me that an eclipse is indeed no more dangerous than looking at the sun in the daytime, but that i sho9uldnt look into the sun at any time. since ive looked at the sun millions of tiems and never had an adverse affect, and ive never heard of a case where it has actually happened, i have concluded that the sun is harmless, as long as you dont look at it for too long. i am open to have my conclusion challenged by a case where someone has been blinded from looking at the sun. please! prove me wrong!
hehe yea.. i was just saying that because it's what happens in the movie. annnd i thought you were refering to it, is all. yea, i don't have any real examples of it happening except maybe galileo going blind while observing the sun through a telescope. ...wich is a dumb thing to do, yes. but all i'm sayen is that it's theoretically totally possable. i read something saying that eclipses are more dangerous just because people tend to want to stare at them more but they still emit way too much radiation and intense light. and then i read this: "Permanent eye damage can result from looking at the disk of the Sun directly, or through a camera viewfinder, or with binoculars or a telescope even when only a thin crescent of the Sun or Baily's Beads remain. The 1 percent of the Sun's surface still visible is about 10,000 times brighter than the full moon." http://www.mreclipse.com/Totality/TotalityCh11.html /shrug i dunno, it's 7:30am and i'm still stoned and ready for bed.
Oi, I thought SAW had no redeeming qualities. I mean it was a copy of "Seven" basically? And the acting wasnt that good either. What am I talking about, I was hiding in my sweatshirt the whole time. Scary movie.
