ok (besides hillbillie) i haven't seen anyone say what to do about the impending doom. i think we'll be able to see it coming as up a little fast than right now. i mean i can still go to the grocery store and get quite a stash of food for a few hundred bucks. so until i wake up one day and there are mobs at the grocery store, i'm gonna stock up on money too. i guess more cents on the dollar for me too. this new currency? the "amero" perhaps. i don't know if it's legit, but if it is, the US dollar is pretty good compared to canada and mexico, and so is our army if it comes to that. that being said, i think americans would get the better end of the shitty deal. @fitzy, your sig illustrates your level of sanity
Where is the contradiction? Other people will lose their asses over the next half dozen years regardless of whether or not I make it rich. My attempting to create further wealth for myself during a down time will not hurt anybody worse than they would have been hurt otherwise. I'm not going to increase the damage done to anybody by bettering my own position. And in some cases my "opportunity" will save somebody's ass. For instance if I find a tax default to buy for cheap I would obviously offer the person to keep their current payments on a rent to buy allowing them to keep the home they had wanted. Other, more opportunistic people, would boot them and raise the rent to meet market values. I know this because my uncle does this to people. I am opportunistic, but I am not greedy nor malicious. Call it what you will, on my way up I'll be catching people falling and bringing others up with me. . . .
Look at this. This guy knows what he is talking about. Press on Pressed Rat! Gee. This thread has got out of hand. Forget the above. No longer relevant. wish the hell I was rich. I'd give you all half. Right now if I did you'd have nothing much. I hate like hell to know I am going to get poorer. Is that possible???
Aside from hillbillie and stalk I'm not sure many have articulated quite so lucidly this impending doom. Obviously the way hillbillie is living will stave off the impending doom. Can we all live like that? I think not. Plus it is his life style choice regardless of any financial climate it seems. e.g: H - just a global economic catastrophe the likes of which mankind has never imagined... i was referring strictly to the state of the financial system and the coming total collapse.. what people fail to realize is this coming collapse is intended to be global and its already beginning all over the world.. the way america goes is the way the rest of the world is going to go.. Post #80 #87 S - + staged disasters that no one will believe are self inflicted (much worse than 9/11) these bastards think this is a game Post #68 You are lucky you have a couple of hundred bucks to spend on food. Others don't and never had. So will feel this current crisis a lot more than others. I imagine most people in this thread will be quite content and not struggle too much over the next few years. I could be wrong. Mobs at the grocery store? This is not going to happen here or there. We are not in Zimbabwe for christ sake An end of one financial paradigm and a start of another? Sorry that is a well formed conspiracy I'm afraid. I can forsee a crumbling of some peoples financial predicament and a "tightning of belts". Will we all make it through? No. But - We shall overcome. Reading through this thread... I have a feeling he is one of the sanest people in this thread come to think of it.
odon i agree, i don't think the grocery stores will get mobbed. or the money system will be abandoned. (at least not very soon or even in my life) i was discussing worst case scenarios. i only have that kinda money to spend on groceries if i had to..i mean i have money saved up but it's because i'm frugal. but until the day of collapse, i'm gonna prepare for a more likely future where i'll be better off if i make a bunch of money working.
Your money won't be worth anything, especially when the trucks stop delivering food because it costs too much to do so. Grow your own. Reform your communities. good luck
k, i will. when it happens. what's the reason i should drop outta school and be broke "just in case?" it ain't that fuckin hard to plant a garden!
I think even in good financial times certain people push for an independent lifestyle. Nothing wrong with that. Heck there is even a good forum here about it. They don't need to be so darn bleak though. Same here.
obviously your not reading the same financial news i am.. i only parrot what the experts are saying..
I highly doubt the grocery industry is going bottoms up over the winter. Prices are sure to rise but I can't see food stores being out of business in the next couple of months.
We put a fence up around our garden and planted stuff for the rabbits and deer on one of the other cleared off acres.
we still have the rabbits, found out they were two females not male female, have someone bringing us a male this weekend.. for the record,i really dont care if anyone besides us is prepared,or grows a garden or not,its not my problem.. also, makeveli to answer your question in a nutshell,if you only keep for yourself only what you need as you stated, and give the rest to charity,it is by definition impossible to increase your wealth during hard times.. there lies the contradiction.. sorry if i didnt elaborate enough to suit someone,,we have our big survivalist/preparedness/sustainability gathering here this weekend and i have loads of chores that need to be tended to before guests begin arriving.. just catchin my breath then its back at it....
you're right. we also have the bow. but i think dave will have better odds with the pellet gun. they're legal within town limits. :cheers2:
Obviously not. You will have to let me read the same things you are. Do share. I do hope they say the same things you do. I do hope I don't have to read between the lines.
