Putting dogs food in the microwave is dangerous for the pet. The hard kibbles heat fom the inside out. Thus when crunched by the dogs teeth, a super heated dryed out kibble will burn its mouth.. And what zilla said.. ruins the food. Be sure to clean its bowls as they can hold bacteria and cause fresh food to spoil faster.. If the fresh food sits a while it may too spoil, you should not force them to eat that. discard soft mushy uneaten food after 24 hours unless you have live in the cold or feed dogs in the cold.. The mush food will be protected by the cold a little longer.. ehe' you get the idea..
You could look around on the net for dog food recipes, our neighbours make their dog's food and he looks healthier than when he was eating the commercial crap. Your dog might think he is eating people food and like it...since you would technically be making his out of people food... Dogs stink because they like to stink. They do not groom themselves like cats do...they will actually find gross stuff to roll in outside. Like other dog's pee or dead fish. You are supposed to have to bathe them.
Orison is right on. If you want to go the home made food route, thats commendable as well. Sounds like you might not want to go through the trouble. Start him out on a mix of people food and wet dog food. you know, the savory beef stew and lamb and rice stuff. eventually lessen the amount of human food in the bowl. wean him off of human food, then start adding kibble to the food. Make sure its the appropriate kibble size for a small dog. then as you add more kibble, if you wish, start cutting back on the wet food and eventually graduate to adding meat gravy (for dogs!!) on his kibble. His smell could be many things. He is either rolling around in something stinky, he has an overload of sodium, which is bad for dogs, or because of what he's eating or his shampoo, his PH is off balance. get him an all natural soap, or at least something with oatmeal, puppy shampoos seem to work best. make sure he is rinsed off thouroughly as soap can cling on to the root of their hair and make em smell. Place his bowl on an elevated surface at face or neck level so he cant pee the inside of the bowl. Eukanuba is a great brand, but for your dog, as of right now, focus on flavor not too much on nurtition. of course all good dog foods contain the nutrition they need, but there are some flavorful foods out there for them. good luck!!
Thank's for the food tip's. I'll try them. I don't want him to eat people food. But keeping him clean is hopeless. My chick gives him a bath every two weeks. As soon as she does he wants to go outside and he rolls around all over the place. Last week we got a big pile of Horse manure and he jumped right into it. Damn he stunk after that. I don't know what is wrong with him. Peace
what shampoo do ya'll use for him? Is he un altered? two words: Leash training. I believe keeping dogs tied up is cruel, but a little training is essential. My dogs are spoiled rotten. I mean rotten and they know their commands. they dont do regular tricks, but the know when I call they must come.
I think the name of the shampoo is Sargents. I'm not sure. My chick buys it. It's blue thats all I know for sure. He is neutered. he does walk on a leash but like's to run around the yard free and get into things. I won't tie him in the yard he is to small a big dog might get him. I don't know he just wants to eat our food and stink. Peace
okay, that shampoo is fairly cheap. move around in the selection of Sargents shampoo. maybe the one she is buying isnt agreeing with his PH and he doesnt like the smell. you gotta remember that dogs revolve around scents alot. they do still have natular instincts that make them do weird things. He might want to smell like his surroundings so other dogs cant sniff him out. Id say spend a couple more bucks for something without a dye, which if its blue, it might, and like I said, with natural ingredients. he is worth it.
yeah, Im the ultimate dog person. I have 5 ya know. been through everything. not death yet though we're getting close. Also, if your dog eats its poop, it has a vitamin deficiency. give it supplements, and the poop eating will more than likely stop.
