Might as well as fun with this infestation.

    I have wire and Saran-wrap.

    Suggestions?

Suggestions to get rid of fleas may help as well. No Carpet... No pets.

Get rid of their food sources?

    They like blood.

Moth balls in the vacuum cleaner, vacuum daily, dispose of the cleaner bags...... This gets rid of fleas but doesn't break the life cycle.

I would guess you are opposed to sprays? There are some natural products that use essential oils if you don't want the chemicals. Either of these are designed to kill fleas, larva, and eggs, for up to 7 months thus breaking the cycle. I can google some brands if you want.

    Not my blood!

I'm opposed to things that cost me money, as I am currently broke as a joke.
I have some eucalyptus oil, I'm told that repels buggers.

did the whole soap/water/light thing, it works but I'd like something better.

I don't know anything that's free/cheap....... Wish I did, I'm poor myself and have a house full of animals so fleas are a common problem. I've found stuff that works but it's not free or even what most would call cheap.

How big a place do you have, and is it an apartment? (The fleas could be "infesting" from a neighbor)

I'm in a three bedroom house, not very close to neighbors. There are yard cats that wander around, I figure they must just be coming in through the cracks in the walls, or they hop on our shoes for a ride into the home.

    Name some products for me!

Sprinkle salt. It slices their tiny bodies.

Similar to the salt you can use Diatomaceous earth (not pool grade as it is toxic). You can buy it at gardening centers. You only need to sprinkle a small amount around and it can be placed on any surface including carpets. Leave for a couple days and then vacuum it up.

Good luck, this thread made me itchy. :)

Thanks. My ankles are sooooooo bitten up, it is sad. And I scar very easily, so I'll be stuck with these marks for a while. Luckily they'll just blend in with the freckles though :p

For a natural product this works....http://www.sentrynatural.com/products.html

I have to use this because of the birds..... I use the carpet powder. You don't have carpets so the spray would work.

For a more "bug spray" type of product, this stuff I use upstairs where I can isolate it from the birds and "bomb" the place......

For your small house, this may be the way to go if it's a true infestation and not just some occasional fleas....... Natural things like the Diatomaceous earth are great to keep things under control, but if they are breeding under floorboards and inside walls, etc. you have a real problem. Both of these products I linked to will break the life cycle as they will also kill larval and eggs. Then using the Diatomaceous earth to maintain control will make sense.

    Good luck.......

Just make sure it's specific for fleas and kills all three life stages..... a typical bug bomb won't do it. I hate toxic stuff as much as the next guy, but sometimes you just need to break out the "big guns".

I'm not sure how bad we have them, it seems like one bites me every couple of minutes, but no one else seems to get bitten. When we had dogs they never had fleas, (ticks a couple times though) so I don't really know what to compare it to :s

the sighting of a single flea does not mean infestation. with no food and water, fleas would die in 5 to 7 days..

Sarah And Her Bloody Fleas Just Cost Me $1000-00...[IMG].

After Reading This Thread Twice GLEN Convinced Himself The Little Bite He Got

On His Leg This Morning Just Had To Have Come From A Flea.

So Then I Decided To Vaccum The Whole House, This Went Well Until Just As I

    Was Finishing Up My Back-Vac

Starting Making A Strange Noise But I Thought There Was A Piece Of Paper

Caught In The Bend Where The Pipe Enters The Vac.

Next Thing I Know There Are Clouds Of Blue Smoke

    And A Putrid Smell.

Ripped The Vac Off My Back To See Small Flames Coming Out The Air Vents.

Ran Outside With It And Put It On The Grass, That Was 20 Minutes Ago And

There Is Still Some Smoke Coming Out....

Rang A Vac Cleaner Shop And The Closest Replacment

    Back-Vac Will Be Close To A Grand...[IMG].

And Just For The Record, I Found 2 Fleas In The Bag.

GLEN Will Not Be Sending A Xmas Card To You This Year Sarah...[IMG].

    Cheers Glen.
