Everything we know, everything we write, books, poetry, music doesn't come from our so called imagination. Reincarnation is the cause. Every life force (soul) has gone on an astral journey from day one, being incarnated into various hosts in different ages after death. There is no death only the transfer of the life force to a new host. Nothing is new. Imagination is simply memory of of things we've experienced in past lives.
I agree to an extent, about reincarnation. But I would say that imagination is simply the mental manipulation of already existing material / spiritual perception
Very interesting. I don't think that describing your opinion in a factual way is very fair - it denotes other people's beliefs and will probably annoy a lot of people.
What happens when i imagine the future. hell, most of the time when i imagine something i imagine the future (like the future path of a ball being thrown to me, or the possible outcomes of a conversation)... 'course, time does work both ways.
Easy it is to state ones "beliefs". Harder still to offer a basis for one's "belief". And, until you can offer such a basis in a manner which is convincing enough to "cause" or be a "causal factor" for someone else, outside of one's own mind, to become believeable, then all it will ever be is a personal belief. After all, once directly experienced it no longer becomes a belief anyway ... more a fact. Care to offer a reason why anyone should, or would want to believe this? HTML:
That dosent make much sense, like Eugine said what happens when you imagine the future? Or what about when you have a fantasy or something with someone you just met? Or what about when a child imagines that they are flying? In my research no human has ever been able to sucessfully fly without machinary. Imagination pertains to the variables of everyday life, what you would change what you wish you had and what you see yourself doing. Not reincarnation. Although if you were going to fight the existance of death with that arguement you might have something.
imagination is simply the mental manipulation of already existing material / spiritual perception. Like I said above. No, it cant be proven like DK is mentioning. I would also ask, how can you really 'prove' anything? How would you go about proving that I am real and not someones dream? Where would one even begin?
i take your point eugene and i respect evrryones opinion and their right to that opinion. however i think you're confusing imagination and instinct. it isn't your imagination that makes you guess the course of a thrown ball its instinct.
difficult it is to argue about reincarnation with a man wearing a saffron robe. i tend to want to address you as holiness ... or master ... or guru. no, you're one hundred and one percent right in what you said. however it will become more believable when our life force leaves its current host ... but then we won't remember it. all i ask is that those who read my words think upon them and then decide one way or the other. i love my fellow humans and respect them. hare hare ... hare krishna.
perhaps i used too broad a canvas in my post. i was really thinking more along the lines of george lucas and star wars. that sort of imagination if you get my meaning. as for flying without mechanical means ... shit sweetheart ... they did it all the time if you believe that best selling work fiction called the holy bible! but lakeoffire as i said to everyone else, your opinion is very very important to me and you have the right to express it freely. thanx very much for your post. bye.
right on relayer ... proving is difficult. even when you're charged with first degree murder it takes a jury of twelve good men and women to convict you and even then its simply their opinion isn't it?
Hmmm ... ??? Define "imagination" and "instinct" without interjecting personal opinion. By "define" I mean the method whereby all humans who communicate in order to agree with -- collaborate and corroborate -- their perception of reality. I understand a dictionary is the most common method for this ... HTML:
I wouldn't argue regarding reincarnation [cyclic existence/rebirth] ... You might find the answer ... somewhat ... lacking ... Neither ... please ... I don't believe in a "life force", so how can I believe that anything "leaves" anything. There just is no possible proof that a "life force" exists ... Just like I don't believe in the existence of a being called "krishna". For me, such beings do not exist. However, for those that do believe in such things, then for them, I cannot deny, such beings exist. HTML:
Wouldn't reincarnation be considered another 'safety valve',as it were,a hedge against the possibility(probability?) of non-existence after death?Like religion?
In a way... Though, it is not generally enthusiastically embraced by those who wish to quit the cycle of suffering
I think our minds are like sponges and they are connected to everything, some more than others and what we call our "thoughts" are just ideas floating around in the universe and we are just the receptor of the moment. To me that is what our imagination is, the absorption of the things around us, I think this explains why sometimes you have no idea what is that you are thinking or why or when two people think something at the same time or when you are in a specific spot and you think this amazing thing and you try to hold on to it and just a few seconds later after you move, it's gone is it a consequence of reincarnation... maybe, I dont know. But I still believe that our minds are sponges to this invisible outside forces that use us as their medium of expression.
