    Hey all. :)

i really don't like to start a thread to only complain in it. but you guys are the only one who listen and understand, i think.

Chuck Berry is going to perform in my town. a musichall in MY STREET! Can you believe that? He's the father of rock 'n' roll to me. It's like a miracle. But i found out a bit later, the tickets were sold out in the musichall.

But later i found out that some people sold their tickets but with a higher price. So i asked my parents if i could buy one of those tickets. But my mum said: ''No, you are not gonna buy one of those tickets. It is what they call the black market. And you're not gonna support those people.''
So i started searching for other solutions..

And finally i found an official ticket company that also sold them. But also with a higher price. And i was all happy and stuff. So i told my mother again.
(And believe me, those arren't black market tickets.)
But again she said: '' NO, YOU'RE NOT GOING TO BUY THOSE!'' My father and brother said that those tickets are normal and good. But she just kept going. And then she said to me:
'It's your own fault, you should have known earlier that he is coming. This should be a lesson for the next time. And you're not gonna support that.''

NEXT TIME? THAT MAN IS 81! THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME! :'(

It's just not fair! I could just cry! My father is pretty cool, he said to me (before all the mother drama) that i had to see him, because Chuck Berry is just wonderful. But when my mother doesnt agree, he always takes her side.

I can't really explain this well.
i just don't know what to do, because i want to see him sooo badly. It's torture! Chuck Berry, in my street. But i can't go because my mother doesn't want me to buy those weird tickets.

    Thanks for reading. Peace&Love

    Love,

    George

I don't mean to be a bad influence, but in this case I think I would go against your parents. This is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and you will regret it if you miss it just because of your mom not getting the whole picture.

Tell your mom "Its Chuck Berry, who cares where the tickets come from... its not like this black market is going to end if I dont buy it from them" Also tell her how important this experience will be to you.

Also tell everybody you know that im drunk... not you but me... chris_mate !!!

Well, i haven't got enough right now. But i would pay my parents back if that was the problem. I asked it for my birthday, which is a couple of days later. And that wouldn't be a problem for my parents, really. If those tickets were ''normal'', it would have been ok. I support Fair Trade, so everytime my mother says: don't you support Fair Trade? huh? And i have talked to my dad separately. But the only thing he said was: You can't do anything about it now.
    Arghh..

Oh yeah, I know that problem. I can say I really hate those people that sell the tickets for a higher price. It's in the 013? We went there also sometime for Roadburn without tickets (while coming from the other side of the country) ,trusting some people would have tickets left. And we could buy them from some english guy for the standard price. God bless the stoners!
But yeah, in this case I should buy those expensive tickets, I'm almost tempted to go for it myself! :)

    grrr how frustrating :(
    *hugs*
when the red hot chili peppers were coming here, i was SO excited
theyr one of my favourite bands of all time
and my dad said that he would buy me tickets...but when they were on sale, he went to russia (which is a whole nother story) and then i had to go with my mum
and we went like the next day to get them...the next day after they went on sale
    and they were all gone
i nearly started crying in the shops hahaha

but im just saying i know how you feel, and even tho my situation was different, i think I understand how you feel that its unfair

parents can also be very unfair at times
because ur mum just might not understand how much this would mean to you
maybe try to get her to understand?
    that might work...
    *sigh*

    love you :)
    peace
    Jane

"fair trade" has nothing to do with it (i am very much a fair trade supporter too). it's perfectly legal to sell tickets like that and it's actually a common thing. i can't see how it's "black market" cause the tickets aren't stolen. he's just selling them for an enormous profit and if you're willing to pay it, that's perfectly fine. it's not what i would call "fair trade" but you're consenting to get ripped off and doing so means getting to see the man who invented rock and roll. Everyone sells things for a profit...I don't know where you live but in the states the healthcare industry is ripping off people who actually NEED what they're selling for an enormous profit. if anything THIS is the black market you don't want to support. So ethically I don't see any problem in buying the tickets.

if it was me, i'd go against my parents, but then again, my parents wouldn't care as long as i didnt get high there. they would say that i could do what i want with my money and if i choose to spend it on something excessively expensive then thats my problem. lending you the money is a different story but that can be negotiated too. whether or not to go against your parents is up to you and nobody can say what you should or shouldn't do because nobody is in your situation with your family. well, good luck [IMG]

I don't see any ethical issue in buying the tickets neither, indeed. I do find it ethically wrong that people sell them for a much higher price just to make money off of it.

I think scalping is fine. Listen if you don“t want to find yourself in a position where all tickets at the box office have been sold and you only alternative is buying from the so called sclaper... its you problem because the scalper used his whits or just arrived before you. Thats how he makes a living.. beeing faster and smarter than some people. I admire the profession hehehehehe

Dude, it has nothing to do with being smarter or faster. If you know this trick you can buy tickets at the start of the sale of any popular artist. It's just making a profit by screwing your fellow men. It's just not the way for any honest being. Don't see what's admirable of it.

He buyes tickets and sells them to who wants them... beeing who couldnt buy them at the box office for some reason.
What is there not to admire ? The fact he profits ??... Hey man its a business like any other !! Think of this...you go to the supermarket and not straight to a farm for example... the supermarket is an intermediary. Just like the person who is scalping !!

Supermarket is just more convenient. I'd rather go to the farm. It's business indeed, so maybe it's just me. I don't like business anyway. I do think some business is admirable though. But not this lame trick to get money of musicloving people.

Some people call it a lame trick... others call it food on the table.

its just not really fair. Those people who really want to see a great artist have to pay the double price because someone bought it earlier just to make money out of it. Don't spoil it for others.
That's what happened to me. But im not giving up yet..:H

Good ole Chuck co-owns a restaurant close to me and plays in the basement once every month to about 100 people. It was truly amazing the first time I went.

I do not agree.. who ever wants to see the show, must become more organized and obtan the ticket before you have to seek scalpers.
