It's true though. My daughter is now listening to CCR, James Brown,Aretha Franklin, Zeppelin,Hendrix,etc etc. She used to hate listening to the stuff when she was little. Now she's thinks therez nothing like it. She's 17.

This is nothing new... do you not think that there were teens in the 80's and 90's who listened to 60's and 70's music? I don't see how this is some kind of new revolution or anything.

 

personally, im glad that my generation is taking a turn towards the better music of the 60s and 70s. it was about the music back then.

today's music basically sucks and everyone is a sell out. money rules everything around meeeeeee

Lucifer Sam (Siam Cat) i totally agree, there's nothing new about it in my opinion, just sounds like some reporter who had a closed mind for a while (he does work for an oldies thing which could directly relate to conservativism) opened his mind one day coz he saw a kid in a jimi hendrix t-shirt.

i seriously don't agree with you saying that you can be really wise regardless of age UPR but then again it's my word against yours and i'm saying we're both dumb and you're saying you're smart so overall i think you'd be the one to trust because one of us thinks you're wise where us neither of us thinks i am.

 

i've noticed a lot of people my age have been turned onto this music too, i dunno if their REALLY into it though...

 

ive noticed it too, nowadays "hippie" is a cool thing. it used to be horrible to be a hippie, but nowadays the companies that said this are selling the label's heart out, and making tons of money off of it. its really sad. if you guys are going to be a hippie for looks only, you should atleast tiedye your own shit, and not fund the sweatshop companies.

 

Great site. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but some of todays bands are doing remakes of the classics. Freaked me out when I heard the "first" one (and it freaked me out more that I kinda liked it). Some of the newer groups have a basic style that lends some extra "umph" to my beloved sounds. Then again, some of them are just plain rank. Let me know of any more sites you find like that one. Thanks. Peace, Love, Dope. Beads, insence, crashpads and Hari Krishna all you groovy freaks. there is nothing like the old tunes..... listening to old tunes you can actually feel the music and it really mellows you out... i really like the grateful dead just for that reason.. the deads music for me is sort of like a high itself but when you are high everything makes sense....

old tunes are great....such as The Doors.....but there is a lot of new punk rock music that is good too

 

i think as you are growing up, you start to noticed younger people getting interested or are interested into what is now called, "classic rock". i will admit when i was alot younger, i didn't care for anything but today's music. but now, and since i was in high school, i have found what i enjoyed and that was and is the music of a lifetime, rock n' roll. i guess people gradually get into it, maybe through peers or through curiousity. i just think it's great when you find something as amazing as the music of the 60s-70s. it's such an awesome experience. =)

 

I would like the youth to appreciate the good music of the past, but keep their eye on the future....we don't want a straight retro scene without any evolution or change.

Exactly! Well put. The "retro revival" thing needs to pass. Using classic bands as inspiration and as influences is good, but trying to copy them is terribly wrong. I'm sure there is something that can be created that is even better than The Beatles, or Zeppelin, or anything that has ever been produced. Experimentation is key.

 

I personally like all kinds of music. I mean everything from classic artists just as Bach to todays hip sounds such as Evanessance. I like classic rock, oldies,doo wop(mostly when I'm stoned),80's stuff like Men without Hats, some swing,techno. Mostly I'm into bands like The Doors, Alice Cooper, Strawberry Alarm Clock etc.

Heh, the other day, on a whim, I purchased Incense & Peppermints. It's a bit cheesy and manufactured, but an essential to a 60's psychedelia collection.

 

Ya that is a good song, I have it on a 45 I got at a rummage sale. The colors on the label are very cool when they are spinning at 45 rpm.

Lots of my favorite songs from my youth are now the "tunes" for commercials.
My daughter digs them and then asks "how do you know that song?..."
I don't believe those artists are "selling out"
