i thought about this the other day in american government class when the teacher said something about military going into fallujah... and a girl whose family has a great deal of money... a white 'republican' girl that doesnt think for her self just repeats her daddy. she was very happy that the us military was going into fallujah, despite any killing that may go on... she also happens to be a strong anti abortion female... i am determined to not dictate any opinion on abortion. i am a male. i will never have to make that decision and i dont think that any male should make the laws about it.... how can you oppose abortion on the basis that it is killing, but support a war that is killing
Ha ha ha that was very funny!! Thank you for that! The question ... through an understanding of what the ends of the means are in both particular cases. Thats how.
I agree with you Sef. I can't stand it when people are all blah blah blah about how abortion is horrible, but they will stand up for things that are more horrible. Humans are really good at believing in contradictory things.
You folks are looking only at the means(abortion, and war time killing) and not the ends of those actions (personal comfort, and preservation of life or way of life for ones country). When you look only at the means, someone who does not support abortion while supporting war is contradictory. But when you look at the reasons that the person is doing the actions(see comfort and preservation) it is easier to see how one might hold those two positions.
Two sides to every story I suppose... generalization, of course, will get you know where - reference "rich white republican". Tell that to the "rich white environmentalist" boycotting the use of GMO's, that could have the potential to save thousands, maybe millions, of lives in developing countries. Ask an African what they think about GMO's. luvin'
I beleive in walking a mile in someone's shoes before casting my opinion on that one... The decision to go into Fallujah is one that the government made for us. Before they are done, they will do many more things I don't particularly care to be involved in. Abortion is a personal choice. One that I will never have to make. I think in order to speak to whether or not it's right - I would have to put myself in the position of one who has to make the decision to either continue or abort a pregnancy. I can't do that.. So I have to leave it up to the women who find themselves in it; and hope they can make the right choice on the matter.
It's the same way people can't put down a cute little kitten , but will have no problem dumping that same kitten off at the pound when it's a grown cat and no longer so adorable. It's new baby syndrome.

I personally think abortion is a terrible thing. But I am still pro-choice because I believe the result of making abortion illegal would be worse.
