a peace agreement that was signed by the United States and the Taliban on February 29, 2020, to bring the Afghanistan War to an end. Yeah... But it's all Biden's fault.
Milley knows damned well how to keep his mouth shut, which begs the question as to why he's bothering to say something now. Generals are not supposed to play politics, but Milley is rather chatty and talkative for a general, not to mention, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and his willingness to talk to the mass media smells of political manipulation by the NSA and CIA, working hard to spin the news and locate insane idiots. Since we only have one political party and a lynch mob, its probably all for the best. Biden is attempting to look tough to moderate conservatives on issues, and the fact he himself never said anything, and Milley is now talking like a Hollywood tabloid, suggests they are carefully manipulating the mass media every way they can. I'm not complaining, someone should manipulate the mass media about now in my opinion.
Seems we had no problem spending $15B on a wall that did zero, so now we want to spend $2.3 to build infrastructure, feed kids, open day care, rescue elder care and maybe just cut a little carbon production...horror of horrors, such irresponsible spending. 90% of our under capacity electric grid was built in the 1950-1960 time frame. 75% of natural gas and water in cities flows in ancient cast iron pipes just waiting to blow. We have the slowest and least reliable internet of any 1st world nation - still not available to many many people at any price.
Oh, I forgot to mention our railways - where 70% of rail traffic rides over iron and timber that's been there since the 1940's or longer using the very same technology used in 1865 - oak, creosote, hammered in spikes over 1.5" aggregate. Most signaling is equally as old. Rail can go coast to coast in 3 days for the cheapest pound per mile cost, but most of that infrastructure has been scrapped for trucks that we habitually can't find drivers for.
The US has the weird distinction of being both a first world and third world country, and the division of our economy into haves and have nots is only making things worse. The worst infrastructure problems are near poor neighborhoods, including toxic waste sites. Considering Donald Duck is still pretending to conquer the world, and Greenland is melting, the State of the Nation is the least of my concerns.
The trucks are all rapidly being automated, and the really hard question is where automation is taking us. Even the Pentagon is at a loss, because the technology keeps advancing faster than anyone can keep up, and is threatening to destabilize the world. Computer processor technology alone is driving a huge part of the economy, but is often riddled with spyware and flaws, and nobody can keep up with 50 billion parts on a chip. We just need a theory of everything, and a chance to sort through enormous volumes of data, at warp speed, which is coming.
We still haven't quite figured out how we are going to charge all these electric cars and trucks. Where are we going to find an extra 6 to 8kW of power for each car - as much as 50 to 100kW for trucks and busses? Our grid is busting at the seams today. Sure, just charge at night - but everyone will be. One saving grace is that there is unused capacity at night today - but that will be gone... Spending $30k on a home PV system that might give you 6kW on a good sunny day just does not make economic sense (not to mention maintenance) , plus their use on the grid is very slanted towards the utility.
Conservatives are supposed to represent the status quo, and calling one a terrorist means the only way to maintain the status quo is by terrorizing people. A third of the damned country opposes democracy, but only because they're all compulsive liars, and half of them are so far out of touch with reality, they still claim the sun revolves around the earth. Blame their teachers, who invented the mass media.
Half of conservatives still believe the sun revolves around the earth, and the other half encourage them to storm the palace with knives and pitchforks, but only because they get money out of the deal.
