When I started watching this film on HBO, all I expected from Ricky Gervais was a funny movie. I got that, plus a very good serious, thought-provoking point. He made the invention of lying equivalent to the invention of religion! In a way that was concise and easy to understand, he showed the true absurdity of mainstream religious belief in the western world. That was a bold thing to write into a comedy movie. :cheers2: Go Ricky!

    I loved the movie.
I would recommend it to any atheist.

Ricky's character never said that there is no god. He only made the point (in a funny way) that the conventional mainstream image of god is obviously bullshit.

I found this movie really boring? Or is it just me?

I thought it was corny and awful, badly put together. Could have been a good idea. There were a cople of scenes that looked really nice, but didn't really fit the overly sentimental theme of the film. They also completely confused what constitues lying. If we couldn't lie, we would not walk around thinking "he's a scientifically appealing male" or whatever the hell.

This is exactly what my own thoughts were. It wasn't a very well put together movie. The plot had potential, but it was taken in the wrong direction.
