How many people who frequent these forums actually consider the consequences of the actions of the world today?

More to the point do you understand the implications of global warming?

If you haven't given it much thought or if you are the type who needs visual stimulus to encourage thoughtful behaviour consider renting and watching the 11th hour... and probably a more heard of yet less educational one would be An Inconvenient Truth.

To change the world is not necessarily a slow drawn out process but something that could be done now.. we could make tremendous changes in a few short years.

Anybody interested in starting a global revolution?

    I love you..

But you are probably not going to like what I have to say...:D

I think other things that are happening right now are a bit more important than "global warming" of course people can work on it or try to make the planet better..but it's not my first priority of the things I'd like to see change right as of now...

Really? I was asking this question when I was 16. Things have gotten a bit more complicated now.

& that I fear is why "too little too late" will be what people say when they finally realize how easy it could have been.

Here is another question.. are you tired of paying the price you are for gas?

Shroom.. I love you too :D
    what is more important?

Well, I have to say that I don't weigh up the environmental consequences of all my actions. For example, I have flown on airplanes a lot.

But I do try to minimise my daily impact on the planet in a number of ways. I don't use aerosols of any description. I use about 3dollars of electricity a month. I take cold showers. I recycle all glass, plastic and paper that I use. I don't litter, ever. I buy local produce whenever possible. I don'y own a car, but I do have a small motorcycle and I walk a lot.

I unfortunately stopped trying to change the world many years ago due to permanent frustration but I do try and keep my little world reasonably well.

You probably don't want to hear my view on global warming and how all of a sudden it's a huge thing now.. I don't by into global warming and personally think tons and tons of things are waaayyy more important...I find humans and the chaotic crap thats going on right now and how we might be in big crap here soon once this election takes place a bit more important than al gore's slip into complete delusions... But that's just me, people are free to go out and worry about this then that is great and good for them, but I'm more concerned with other things, like a possible recession, war, poverty and so forth..

I would love to be able to not use a car anymore but that's just not possible where I live. It takes me thirty minutes to get to town and that's with me speeding.

I don't recycle because if I do separate it the guy at the dump will still throw it all together in the trash compactor.

Global warming will still happen even if we all go "green". It's a cycle.

I hate having to pay what I do at the gas station but I know I will continue to rely on oil until something better is provided.

The cycle has never had these types of interferences before

I completely understand the need for transportation, I have four kids we can't just walk the 10 miles to town to buy our groceries, but if more people made a fuss about it then we would have a better chance of our government officials taking action. :)
& by a fuss I mean get pro active .. write letters ...picket gas stations ...limit driving to when it's absolutely necessary

I'm not trying to be all that pushy about this I'm pretty sure a huge change is coming whether we want it or not...but I thought it was something worth posting
    interesting conversation yea?

I'm pretty sure that people are going out of their way to deny what is happening here, and that includes global warming. It probarbly wont be until the world around them starts to destroy itself that they will want to do something and unforunately that might just be too late. For now there are far more important things such as their hairstyle, car and public status.

al gore.... the fact that he got a peace prize for his film which was mostly propaganda bullshit awes me. global warming is a waste of money in my opinion. its just cool now to be anti global warming. the earth is and has always been changing. from all the evidence i've seen (i went to scientific forums and saw proper scientists speak - unlike al gore - and show their data), our CO2 levels follow the temperature and not the other way around. (because of the dissociation from water at higher temperatures). i dont see anything wrong with living in an environmentally friendly way but going into hysteria and plastering it all around the media that we have destroyed earth is a bit stupid.

i don't really want to get into this, seems like every time i say my view i get personal attacks and insults from the retards who can't back up their claims.

People shouldn't be personally attacking you on "free speech forums".

I do wonder about global warming. If there was something that we could be doing, surely the government would see about it? Something as detrimental as this surely is more important than controlling peoples money and sex lives?

Regardless, action should be taken, because you only have to look at the current state of the earth to realise that things are not right. Why does it have to be about "me, me, me" before anyone wants to do anything? The earth is being treated like a trash-tip yet so long as we can still survive, who cares right?

You should have watched this show on discovery about what the world would be like if humans just vanished. It would be hell for about 50 years but after 300 years there would be little evidence that we ever existed. We dont damage the world much as a we think, the damage we do only effects life, but life goes on.

Global warming is a naturally occurring process.

The fear of the beckoning Global Warming monster, with its laser eyes ready to attack the ice caps is a cheap excuse for caring about the environment.

Care about the environment because you realize that you are a part of nature, or simply because you care.

"Global Warming" is just a political ploy by cocksucking wankers like Al Gore.

It does make people who wouldn't care about the environment otherwise start caring about it, so good things do come out of this well-propagated fear.

I believe that global warming is a reality, but as to the extent of our control over the situation, who knows. Unfortunately some people need to be scared into actually limiting their impact on the natural order of things. And even more people still couldn't care less. Why? Because tt's not convenient enough to do so.

    I find this unbelievably sad.

Why can't people just respect the amazing ecosystem that we are just a part of, not in control of?

It's expected to have people claim that global warming is a routine event... but is pollution? I really didn't think that starting a thread about this would mean much to most people.. but for what it's worth it's more then a simple debate.. it's the world. :)
