we never roomed in one womb
that matters little when i look at you
history is all that comes to mind.
    though something tells me
that our story is not uncommon,
is there not something entirely more precious
    than the rarest, finest stone,
in the fact that our love wasn't instant
    like clapping,
    or weak coffee-
but it was slowly, painfully grown.
    as if from birth,
the labor of our drawn out non-calendar days
    has produced a symbiotic coexistence
that cannot be severed by time or space,
because no matter how much i grow
    you're growing parallel to me.
    the sunflowers in your backyard
    that you said, in passing
reminded you of our time together
    they return faithfully each year
with a kind word and a skilled hand.
and no matter how far circumstance
    drags us from our roots
    i return in the light
    of the stories you tell
    when i am
    for the moment
    nothing but memory.
i love you when you are in view
and when you are simply a picture in my mind.
the face, like the face of the clock
that will eternally hold the memory
of how men dreamed up a finite world
your face is the sum of an eternal summer
    blowing bubbles in the backyard
as a four year old girl.

I am a huge Ani Fan as well(love the song fierce flawless :p) But that pom was amazing it reminded me of some of her spoken word stuff except your style is distinctively more, hm how should i say this mon dieu... ani she makes statements like punches one two three you're out, you're style is more coaxing its like a cat against your leg begging to be let out, you win arguments over with elegance and this self assurdeness (okay i know you're like what the hell weirdo sorry) it was very very very well written so well infact i am havin difficulty commenting :)
