I posted a thread a few days ago saying how I haddnt enjoyed the movie 'The Village' some of you said you really liked it and some said it had really scared you. I find it interesting how different things scare different people, so I was wondering how many of you were scared by the film 'The Exorcist'? I went to the cinema to see it and I diddnt find it scary at all, its a cool film and a good story but I wasnt scared or shocked by it. I cant really say I have been totaly scared by any film, sure there are gory bits in films that have made me look away but not because I was scared but because its really sick.
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAH!!!!! The little girl pees on the carpet. Best bit of an otherwise ok movie. Not scary at all.
I think the fact that demon possession actually does occur is more frightening than a film about it. It tends to take place a lot in third world countries. Of course, you'll never hear about it.
To date, no other movie has scared me as much as The Exorcist. I think it's to do with the subject matter.. It freaks me out because I believe things like that actually do happen, also. Obviously the movie is a Hollywood dramatisation, but it conveys the whole idea pretty well. I saw it first when I was about 12 years old, or thereabouts, and it's had a lasting impression on me. My brother would put that reagan voice on to freak me out, and it worked... still does ! Other horror movies, that are mostly gore don't scare me at all. They seem more silly than anything.
Ah, The Exorcist. Probably one of the creepiest movies of all time. I've seen it twice, and both times was very, very frightened. I don't know why it's so scary...I think it's just the subject matter, like AquaMoon pointed out. I'd like to see the other Exorcist movies but I'm too scared lol. Other movies that scared me a lot....IT the first time I saw it (i was about six), Texas Chainsaw..because things jumping out at me scare me. I think the deal with the Village wasn't so much that it was "Scary" like really scary, I think it was more that we didn't really know what the things were, because no one talked about them, and they had created a sort of eerieness, you know?
I thought the Exorcist was ju7st incredibly stupid. I turned it off cause i got so bored. Not many horror movies scare me. I saw boogeyman last night and that wasnt even scary. Although, Two-The second ring, now that looks scary!
Funny you should mention the Ring sequal...I didn't find the first one entertaining OR scary at all Big ol' waste of time, as far as I'm concerned. But I definitely want to see the Boogeyman. The Grudge was quite awesome, I thought. That little kid gave me the creeps. What is it about children in horrors - they make it so much scarier?!
Boogeyman was a good movie, but it wasnt scary. I still suggest seeing it though. Yea, the Ring wasnt scary. It only kind of creeps my out if I watch it alone, but I cant wait to see the second one.
I liked the faces in The Ring, when they were all stretched around and stuff lol that's basically the only part of it that kind of made me jump. The rest was just...meh. So Boogeyman wasn't scary? The trailors looked scary Speaking of trailors, anyone see the one for Wes Craven's new one? I think it's called The Curse or The Cursed...and it's got Christina Ricci. It looks pretty good, although Wes is getting pretty predictable these days.
I didn't find the exorcist scary, I think its a good film though. The grudge is the only film that actually scared me since I was a kid.
Perhaps when 'The Exorcist' was first released and considering the hype suurounding it, there was an impression which lasted more than a decade, due to the lack of serious competition. Soon after, the 'splatter movie' craze came into full momentum giving rise to a tsunami of 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Dawn of the Dead' the 'Friday the 13th', 'Halloween' and 'Freddy' franchises all which would have frightened/entertained the generation I grew up in. None of them stand the test of time. Fear is a reaction to an instant, sometimes based on expectation of violence and sometimes sudden shock. If you want to be remotely scared(though I can't see the logic in that) by movie that is supposed to be a good horror movie then you have to watch it alone, in the dark, in the cold (turn on the air conditioning and sit in front of the TV with only your underwear) with a smoke machine running. For extra effect buy a cattle rod and poke yourself in the thigh every now and again to create some atmosphere. Disclaimer: I am not responsible for the psychiatric fees for anyone who tries this.
How could you not like the excorcist? Boring? It has a little chick going aroung with a spinning head, spewing green shit, fucking herself with a cross, and beating the shit out of her mother. Not to mention the whole Excorcism scene. How the fuck could you find that boring? I don't really remember the begining much... is it a slow begining or something? No movie ever scared me but, I think the best scary movie is Excorcist (not scary but a great movie)
i thought the exorcist wasnt scary but still a great film. The Ring wasnt scary it was jumpy. as for the grudge.....well what can i say.....it was jumpy and it didnt scare me a bit.....the plot seemed a little ridiculous and the womans rage/moster was a copycat of the ring. i do like jumpy movies though.
the beginnig of ther exorcist is boring, but important if you ever read the book. It doesn't explain a lot in the movie. It's much scarier if you know the background from the book. the exorcist scares me bacause of submilinal images. They stick in my mind and I can visualize them at night. Disturibing images scare me the most, not blood or guts or jumpy things. I hate jumpy scenes. the beginning of the Ring scared the crap outta me when they show the gilr in the closet. I don't like to be THAT scared. I like to think. And exorcism does happen. Plus all the weird stuff that happened to the set while making the film is scary.
I think so... pentagrams appear on her palms (his too, i think)...and then there's a clip of her biting into his neck. so werewolf or vampire, or something else altogether...I can't wait to find out!
wow, thanks for the bad rep chuck, i stated my opinion and you told me to grow up and stop posing? you make alot of sense buddy!
i was expecting lots of the Exorcist and when i finally got round to watching it it didnt do owt for me. i like the third one tho. the lady with the big head clippers still makes me jump the scariest film i love is the original version of The Haunting. still sets my heart beating like a crazy dancing man
