I posted a bit about this in lucky spiral but since this gets more traffic...
    anyways...
on the way home from the beach this morning we went through a dui checkpoint... was the second one I've been there ever.

This one was crazy though. There were about THIRTY cops all in a row shining flashlights in the cars as everyone drove through a bunch of cones and then one of the cops put his head in our window to ask if we had anything to drink....
I was pretty drunk but not driving- the driver had one and just said "I had one beer" and the cop goes "Okay then, drive safely" and that was it...

Man... there were probably a lot of people saying "oh shit" cause by the time you could see the sign you could not turn around.

I'm wondering why they needed so many cops though... hopefully there was no crime going on in a fifty mile radius.

Oh.... and my heart was pounding!!! Which was absolutly ridiculous since we had nothing illegal in the car, I wasn't driving and I knew the driver only had one beer. But still it scared the shit outta me.

I've thankfully never been through one, but they are what make me paranoid every night I'm out driving and I see shit loads of flasing lights.... luckily for me they always turn out to be wrecks

What a waste of tax dollars *sheesh* I wonder how many thefts there were in that time period???

Anyway, I think those kinds of checkpoints are ridiculous. I mean someone who had six beers wouldn't actually admit that to the cop when they ask, would they?

Haha, everyone else in the car thought it was a car accident! But right away I was like "check point!"- maybe cause I had seen one before and also because why would there be like twenty cop cars at an accident yet no ambulances or fire trucks?

Actually.. this is funny. That was the second thing I said "if it's not a check point, it looks like a shooting or something"

LOL... it's scary! I had no reason to be scared but I kinda was anyways.

Would suck if you had eaten at a restaurant, had like three beers with dinner and were waiting to reach the cops thinking "I should be okay... or am I?" I bet there were a lot of scared people.

Well the one I was at I really didn't see any place at all to turn around but if you could I wouldnt really wanna try it.

And yeah... almost everyone I know has a few dinners with dinner sometimes and drives- not drunk but it would be questionable for a check point.

exactly... food pretty much cancels out the effect of all the alcohol I drink, of course until I get so far, then it does nothing except make me want to drink more

Checkpoints are UNCONSTITUTIONAL and were commonplace in the Soviet Union, which we are becoming more and more like.

It's all about being guilty until proven innocent.

The government IS NOT here to look out for your safety, folks. They simply use "your safety" as an excuse to eviscerate your rights and eveyone else's.
