I saw the Descent for the second time last night. I have to say that I am really impressed with this movie. I have been so disappointed with the horror films of the last few years. But this one really has all the elements of several great horror genres: psychological fear, gore, a few jumpy scares, revenge, realism, and even some adventure and sci fi elements similar to that of Alien. Those that have seen it, what do you think? What about the very last scene? Any interpretations?
I really liked it, im super clustrophobic so it hit me pretty hard. I liked the ending but my girl didnt at all she actually thought that it made the movie not as good. I dont think she got it though.
that was the grossest movie i ever saw! the concept itself i found was realllly erie but the effects were so fake it made me hate it!
It was a bit low budget compared to most big hollywood horror movies. But I didn't ever notice the effects seeming fake except for a couple of parts (the bats) that didn't really play a big part in the movie. It didn't really distract me anyway. I love your handle by the way. I'm a huge Blind Melon fan.
I thought it worked perfect, because she kept having weird visions the whole movie, so it worked pretty good. I totally thought the truck was gonna smoke her at the end. lol.
I watched it on the plane last year. I thought it was a pretty good film, but then again anything would be slightly amusing when you're stuck on a plane for 12 hours.
Yeah...I liked how the movie kept making you think something bad was going to happen and then the situation would resolve. It just kept you tense the whole time. Like when they were driving to the cave and were speeding on little muddy winding roads.
The US version doesn't have the original ending. I haven't seen it yet, but the UK version has the original Uncut ending. I want to see the original not the americanized version which cut the ending short and gives the movie a totally different mood and supposedly ruins it
I have no idea if it will be available on DVD in the US, but I just now bought a PAL version converted to NTSC DVD on ebay. Theres a guy there selling the original British edition converted to a NTSC Region Free single DVD with perfect video quality. He has sold many of them and his feedback looks real good and they say the quality is excellent for a burned conversion.
You can also find the end of the british version on youtube.com. I watched it. If the end is the only thing that is different, then its not really a huge deal. It does change the ending but its only about 30 secs or so difference. Not sure which one I like better.
I thought the movie was pretty good (a group of white inbred southern cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers) feasting upon hot babes...hey didn't they make this movie under the streets of New York called C.H.U.D. It wouldn't surprise me if the movie was based on fact (or at least how we perceive the good folks of Appalachia) I mean since they were geographically isolated for so long, inbreeding would have became a normal part of life. Hotwater
I saw it last night. It was better then 90% of the "horror" dreck that's been released the past few years. I like how they relied on things like good acting and simple sets rather then a bunch of CGIed BS. The crawlers were pretty original too. Not totally original but better then the plethora of long-haired Japanese ghosts slithering on the floor that we've had to endure. I loved the near-ending(not the part where she's in the car). The sheer justified cruelty of it. I knew something was going to happen but I was still surprised when it did.
I LOVED dog soldiers, and i really wanted to see this movie in theatres, but never got to it, and i have it on my computer but its a movie id rather get on dvd and watch on a tv, so yea, im just gonna wait for the dvd release. fuck roth and aja, marshall is the future.
I just watched the UK version. Its actually one of the best I have seen. Just the cave itself was eerie and claustrophobic . It's like the movie didn't even need the creatures in it, but when they do come into the film all hell breaks loose. It's a great film, no doubt about it.
