Probably one of favorite books ever... But, as I've gotten older, it's connected a lot less (or at least in different ways) with me. The Catcher in the Rye is totally necessary if you're into reading, it's a relatively short book that has a lot of mileage in terms of language and concepts. It's a pretty fun book to read, too, very informal. There are a lot of interesting stories surrounding the book, too - serial killers often tend to have numerous copies of the book, and the man who shot Lennon was reading it right before the shooting. Interesting stuff. I'd recommend it, for sure. I think it's valuable to read both as a teen and as a young adult (can't say for adults 'cause I'm not one yet )
It's basically about a kind of rebel, loner guy and what happens to him. I think it's great but not as great as some people make it out to be. It just connects to most people at a pretty deep level, which makes it so compelling and such a great read.
I loved this book so much. it is deffiantly one of my favorites. I personally think almost anyone who reads it can relate/connect to it in some way.
It is over-rated. I read it when I was young and thought it sucked then. I tried re-reading it a couple of years ago and couldn't get past page 20-- it still sucks.
I think it was a pretty great book. I don't remember a lot of the details...been about 6yrs since I read it. It was definately worth reading though. Most young people can really relate to it.
I think I would have been able to connect to it more if I would have read it like 2 years ago, but, it's still a good book.
I was reccomended this book by soemone on another forum, then people started talkign about how I'm like the main character... the library has it ready for me to pick up but I haven't got a chance to get aroudn to it
I love Catcher in the Rye, I thought it was really good. I first read it when I was about 14 and felt more of a connection to it than I do now. Its still a great book though, definetely worth reading!
