I am curious what the max amount of THC is that can be saturated in a unit volume of vegetable oil (yes, this is a cooking experiment).. Also, I thought I read somewhere that the oral dosage of thc is 2 to 5 mg, can anyone confirm, or disprove this? Also, roughly what portion of the weight of decent trees is thc? Any help with any of these questions would be greatly appreciated=)
wow, those are some tough questions. Without knowing the THC % of your particular weed, you just have to guess... Why not do a little trial and error? Try using a moderate ammount of weed and then buliding up the dose to the level you like in your ganja food. No need to get so scientific about it. Just cook it up and eat it!
tree friend, I cook trees up a fair amount without a problem, and have determined good ratios for my trees, and my baking mix. I am doing an experiment though, I want to know the bare minimum amount of vegetable oil (preferably in ml's) required to get someone high.
anyone know? anyone have references to where I could learn...already checked erowid with limited success
Well, this experiment has alot of variables. You would need to test this on several different persons, all of whom have different tolerances. Also, it depends on the oil. Im fairly certain that oils (plant fats) absorb less(?) thc than animal fats, ie butter, do. Another thing, is using the same amount of marijuana (exact weight, using scale, from same plant) in each trial. Youll ahve to do several trials and take an average, using different people and different amounts. Like the dude said, trial and error. To actually perform the experiement: Start with say 3ml of oil, and say .3g of cannabis. Then go to .4g of cannabis and 3ml of oil and work your way up until you reach maximum absorbtion. Then switch it around and keep your .3g of cannabis as the constant and work your oil up by .5ml each trial. However, i dont see how your are gonna be able to test the concentration of the oil and the cannabis to see how much, unless your just going for the dry weight of the buds. This seems pretty complex without much laboratory experience. You dont need much, but it could take a while Also, if i were you, i would test how different types of oil (vegatable, canola, olive, etc.) would affect the outcome.
a book i have says the average of the whole plant is around 5%, but hash can be like 15-20 and oil can be up to 50%. i dont think u could get 50% by using oils to extract though, i think youd need alchohol. and you have cannabis TREES? more than one? where do you grow them lol?
The figures by stonerbill are probably for the entire cannabinoid content, not just THC. However: oral dosage of THC comes in 2.5, 5, 10mg. the "pills" are oil filled balls (marinol). It takes 5-10+. Off the cuff, I'd say a gram could be dissolved in 1 or 2 ml oil. But you can't cook a 1/8 in 2 ml. the question is how small an amount of oil you can cook a specific volume of weed in. If you saturate the weed, it will take a while, but your minimum usable volume of oil should drip out. Unless you can think of a way to squeeze it out. If you're dreaming of getting high on a drop, your going to have to step into full-blown chemistry and make hash-oil.
