Testing New Forum Homepage!

i dont like it. its cluttered and just way to busy for my taste.

 

i like it put maybe top 20 forums could be moved into the videos slot...
ive always found the videos to just take up space.

 

I overall like the set up.

But maybe you can have the complete list of forums link listed in bold at the bottom or something...

 

I don't like it. The access to the forums it's like hidden...down there.

 

too busy. can you try and keep it a bit more streamlined. though i think it would be nice to be able to choose what you have displayed on your own 'home' page

customize-able homepages.
not like completely customizable but like just have a few different formats available for choice...kind of like the color layout for the site...

 

Well to be honest..I think it is too hard to find the forum your looking for and at the bottom of the page, it show'd 'My Gallery' but there was a strange penis picture next to my picture and I didn't care for that at all and neither did my hubby, not only that but other pictures have been materilizing in my gallery from time to time.. I havn't been able to load my own pix in over a year, but it seems someone else can load pix in your ?private? gallery..I deal with the public in my healing work and sales of my products..if someone goggles me they will find me here and I really don't think a penis pix next to my face or my daughters would be very appropreate or leave a good immpression of what I represent, and it's very upsetting to me to see something like that anywhere near my daughters memory.. can we fix that somehow please..otherwise I will have to close my gallery.

 

I like the homepage we have already,,,only because im used to it and familiar with it,,i do like on the new homepage the active threads display and also the section titled your latest posts,,,it would be great if we can keep the current homepage and add these two displays too it(the active threads and your latest posts)

 

I really like it if I got the idea right. The main page is listing all active threads, right. That's good. See cuz there's these hip leos that like run from thread to thread telling people their threads are in the wrong place, they want them in the right place. People like me that just post in the most active forums to get responses cuz i dont think the correct ones get much traffic, won't mispost as much an thusly will be chased out by militant hippies less.

 

Correction I still think the homepage looks better as it is, I just like the idea of havin active threads all in one place, maybe you could just squeeze in a link to that page on the homepage.

I'm sure alot of hard work went into the new homepage...alas i still prefer the old page. It has all the info needed and looks good. Also on the old homepage you could see who was in chat, I do like that option alot. Good luck.

I realize you've put a lot of work into this, and I don't know all of the motivations you have for changing things around, but let me offer a few suggestions, since you asked.

I'm a little bothered by the prominence of the "recent posts." Specifically:

There is enough board activity that with only 20 recent posts, only about 10 minutes worth of board activity is visible. Clearly not enough.

Also, this puts Spam posts and other posts with "objectionable" titles right on the front page, instead of burying them behind an appropriately labled forum. This visibility is just bait for the prudes, and might help stir them into action, which I don't think anyone wants to do!

One possible Plan B might be to move the "top 20 forums" to the center position?

I would agree. Here's a way to server both communities: Consider leaving forum list as opening page, but making this page your optional home after logging in.

Also:

I always like an "about us" link at either the top or the bottom of the opening page, so that complete newbies have some idea who/what they are dealing with.

I like the set-up.... but I know I'm not the only one here who would get confused as hell over the new layout, being used to the old, and end up throwing the laptop across the room lol...... I think it's a good thought..... but I really like the old page better... it's easier to find what you're looking for and to be quite honest... ive been here over 2 years and i still get lost from time to time. I think the old layout will just work better and cause less confusion. I mean it's worked for how long now? *shrugs* just kinda seems to follow the "if it aint broken dont fix it" motto ..... either way..... as long as there's still access to the old layout..... let the individuals decide which they like better :spliff:
